It quite simply contains pure 100% EM of the highest calibre and tackles styles across the spectrum, presenting epic Tangerine Dream style sequencing alongside stunning melodics.
The opener ‘Voyager’ is possibly the greatest 12 minute package in EM history. It opens with drifting spaced out refrains and subtle effects. In the background the sequencing glories to come can be heard in subliminal fashion. At the 5 minute mark those sequences are unleashed to spectacular effect. The way the Digisound Modular’s power is harnessed to produce such hard hitting yet hugely enjoyable rhythms is a stroke of genius. Percussive rhythms explode and focus the beat to produce a hugely impressive backdrop, then John Dyson gets to work on producing some of his infectious lead melodies and we are presented here with some of his finest. They sear through the soundstage and scale seemingly never ending heights. The track seems to peak then goes higher.
The title piece ‘Moonwind’ is a brooding masterpiece which displays how effective electric guitar can be melded with synths. The main theme is wonderful and imparts such power and meaning at every turn.
‘Chase the Evening’.... No fan of classic TD style sequencing should be without this slab of pulsating electronic rhythmics. Not content with this, further lustre is added with marvellous melodics and massive symphonic escapades. It really is a masterpiece of synthesis, a sentiment which can be extended to the whole album.

Originally released on cassette in 1985. Re-released in 1993 on Surreal to Real. Ambient electronics float in a sea of actively sequenced keyboards. When these sequencer rolls are not fulfilling the music's rhythmic quotient, E-perc delivers the required energetic elements. Searing guitar injects a visceral quality, bestowing both guts and intellectualism to the music.
The melodies are carefully balanced between brooding soundscapes and explosively dynamic structures. Slowburn passages lead into more intricate waves of ascendant music.

On time with the first days of spring the duo "Wellenfeld" returns with its new album "Sunshine". And this promise is being kept. Warm sounds in the typical Wellenfeld-robe, once gentle, once catchy melodies plus a well dosed dash of rhythm help us to leave the winter behind. Detlef Dominiczak and Andreas Braun took two years time to work on their new songs, discovered new stylistic elements and added them artfully. Songs like “Sleepwalker” are carried by monotonous sequencer lines which initially remind us of TD. Other songs like “Sine Fields” own a typical “Café del Mar”-character. With “Biowave“, Klangfarben“ and „New York“ they remain true to their own tradition and present three fantastic hymns in best Wellenfeld-style. Variety is guaranteed. Additionally they added two bonus tracks: “Floating” is a live-recording of the opening song from last Ambient-Experience in January 2007 at Rex Theater Wuppertal. The subsequent radio-cut of the hymn “New York” cares for the fast intermediate pleasure. “Sunshine” is the first “real” CD of Wellenfeld and grants a varied start into the forthcoming EM-summer. Let the sun-shine in your heart…

After the first two successful albums „Cosmic Waves“ and „Fusion“ the duo „Wellenfeld“ surprised the audience at their first Live-concert beginning 2006 with their new release „Trip to Illusion“. And the title fits perfectly. Besides new sounds and fresh melodies the CD shines through its warm and powerful sound. Multiple enjoyments will strengthen this impression. “From the start we try to find those sounds, which fit perfectly, have slight warmth and transport a certain transparency in our songs. Preferably we work with pads that sound concentrated and full by layering”, stated Andreas. So, “Trip to Illusion” will lead you to endless daydreams and an exciting but relaxing experience…depending on how you listen.

"Written for orchestra (or orchestra replica), it is inspired by several astronomical subjects. A symphony orchestra is simulated using Digital Synth's GDS (General Development System) and Synergy Digital Synthesizers (see: Crumar). These used additive and complex FM/PM modulation. She named her ensemble the LSI Philharmonic: "('Large Scale Integration' circuits, i.e., computer chips)". "This was the first digitally synthesized orchestra of any significance that a single composer could command.

We're certainly both as surprised and as happy as most of you will be. Disney just contacted us out of the blue, and informed us that they were going to release a CD of my original music soundtrack to put out in conjunction with their new DVD edition of the 1982 motion picture, TRON. They asked if we had a digital stereo CD master available. The catch was that they needed the new master, like ... yesterday!
The first thought that came into my mind was: "The sleeping giant awakes...!", a scene from some childhood story in which everyone lives happily ever after. Yet it's true, this one has a happy ending. It was VERY short notice, a good example of the old hurry up and wait (or is it vice-versa this time, something like that...?), but we were well prepared. I've mentioned several times before that we had finally made excellent surround transfers of the music master tapes, recordings which had become unplayable in the late 80's (there's a story on a previous news page). We suggested that we include some bonus tracks, music that didn't make it to the final original LP and cassette for reasons of space. Those masters had to be found and transferred, too. Liner notes ("Looking Back on Tron") had to be written. Most important, the whole thing had to be mixed to stereo and mastered with the same 20-bit Hi-D care we give our latest series of albums on East Side Digital: the best the masters can sound, short of altering them in any way artistically.
Fortunately, the sound for TRON was more recent than many of the ESD remasterings, and didn't need so much manual cleanup and massaging of tiny ticks, bumps, hums, hisses and so forth, that have become only audible on the latest audio systems. So the process went smoothly if intensely during a marathon week of whirlwind production over the Thanksgiving holiday. Hey, how could I refuse this opportunity?
This was a friendly surprise, a positive way to celebrate the holiday season at the end of a trying year on more of an up beat. All TRON enthusiasts should take note of the in store date of January 29th for the soundtrack CD's of the first CGI feature motion picture (with some notable breakthroughs in the music, too). The sound is beyond anything you've heard before: sharp and vivid, not like all those lame, overpriced pirate editions that thieves have sneaked out to fill the CD void (all faked from LP and Cassette transfers -- ick!).
