Sverre Knut Johansen - Earth from Above

Artist: Sverre Knut Johansen
P: 2016

Earth From Above, Sverre Knut Johansen’s first release on Spotted Peccary Music, introduces a rich, fresh approach to the symphonic-electronic style of orchestrated composition, immediately evoking a soaring perspective of unusual terrestrial landscapes from high above the skies, all illuminated through melodic compositions, at times austere, and always a sound experience filled with emotional, poetic content. This refined approach builds on lush atmospheres, rhythmic elements, melodic structures, and dense layers of endless floating sounds and effects to create dramatic, dreamy landscapes and meaningful enticing journeys. Sverre Knut Johansen – along with featured Spotted Peccary guest artist David Helpling, who contributes emotive guitar textures and tonalities throughout the project – combines a selective array of electronic instruments, guitar samples, synthesizer pads and elements, as well as a diverse menu of rhythmic components and percussive sounds to define his visceral orchestra. This ensemble dances, illuminates, and pulsates as though conducted from the Northern Lights that fill the sky above the composer’s home. But it is Sverre Knut Johansen’s melodic sensibilities that gives this exciting music its focus and purpose, and his attention to detail and dedication to quality production that delivers such an elegant experience.

Sverre Knut Johansen - Planets

Artist: Sverre Knut Johansen
P: 2013
A true interstellar musical journey covering several musical styles from dreamy passages to splendid guitar and keyboard solos. Melodic, spacy and ambient electronics with progressive touches, similar to Jonn Serrie, Steve Roach and Max Corbacho.
Planets is Norwegian Sverre Knut Johansens 3rd album for Origo Sound, and his first full album in more than 10 years.

On Planets Sverre unleashed his full potential as a composer and producer. Music ranges from Vangelis like electronics in the hypnotic opening track of "Twin Sunrise" to pure ambient soundscapes on "Origins". The three-part title track add soaring guitars by Eivind Aarset and crosses over to instrumental progressive rock in true symphonic style.

Sverre Knut Johansen - Secret Space Program

Artist: Sverre Knut Johansen
P: 2017

Secret Space Program, Sverre Knut Johansen’s second release on Spotted Peccary Music, focuses a distant lens on some of life’s strangest and possibly most impactful questions. Who are we? Where did we come from? Are we alone? Inspired by fantastic stories of extra-terrestrial intelligence, Johansen magnifies these inquiries, addressing them through a large array of synthesized instruments and soundscapes. The resulting electro-symphonic compositions unveil a deeply compelling musical experience. The album’s concept shimmers with the enthralling aura of a sci-fi story, flirting with conspiratorial questions reminiscent of The X-Files, as the “Secret Space Program” of Johansen’s musical tale investigates our involvement with non-terrestrial intelligence. “There are many who argue that there are secret organizations cooperating with extraterrestrials on several levels. So-called black ops programs.” Johansen explains. “What if these stories were true? Would we find that there is a secret base located on the moon, or that there are organizations on Earth that have daily contact and interaction with extraterrestrials?” The photorealistic artwork by acclaimed visual artist Michal Klimczak, along with captivating track titles like “MILAB (Military Abduction),” “LOC (Lunar Operation Command),” “Orb Beings,” and “IE (Intuitive Empath)” embellish the album’s story with sensational details, while the music, filled with mystery, drama, tension and wonder, underscores the extraordinary saga. Masterfully soaring between melodic peaks of dramatic intensity and deep lush valleys of ambient meditations, the excitement and subtle introspection of Secret Space Program serves as a soundtrack to what some have imagined could be the greatest discovery of all – that we are not alone!
