Klaus Schulze (Wahnfried) - Megatone

Artist: Klaus Schulze
P: 1984 / 2021

During the eighties, the German synth legend Klaus Schulze pursued his solo adventure, working at the same time for his Wahnfried project. This "Megatone" brings something new to his usual "kosmische musik". A new element appears once again after the classic "Time Actor"; the presence of a singer (Michael Garvens). The voice appears in the modern and "mechanical" electronic piece called «Angry Young Boys". Schulze synth explorations are also sustained by guitar parts & sequencers, drum- machines. This vast & epic cosmic "trip" mixes pure atmospheric realms (the synth strings) with perpetual, repetitive drum rhythms. "Megatone" is a deep electronic album but not as abstract or as meditative as before. The electronic pulsations and the pop arrangements put Schulze's music into a more "mainstream" level.

Klaus Schulze (Wahnfried) - Trance 4 Motion

Artist: Klaus Schulze & Wahnfried
P: 2000 / 2018

Re-Issue of the Klaus Schulze album „Trance 4 Motion“, originally released 2000 as part of limited and long exhausted (wooden) boxset „Contemporary Works“.
It has been two decades ago that Klaus Schulze invented his alter ego Richard Wahnfried but there are no signs of fatigue to witness yet. Rhythmical tensions of the vibrating track “Local Scanning” are only one example of the ongoing fascination that this side project has to offer. The early approach was characterized by electric guitars and vocals but the final version distinguishes itself by bright-eyed and bushy-tailed minimal sequences, razor-sharp percussions and filter modulations only moog wizard Wahnfried is able to create. Based on reduction, “Aphrodesire” takes the same line as the previous track and exites with a hypnotical effect.
Finally, the Cologne-based “Solar Moon” with engineer Tom Dams is featured on the third track “Global Midication”.

Klaus Schulze (Wahnfried) - Trancelation

Artist: Klaus Schulze
P: 1994 / 2019

Klaus Schulze plays along with Georg Stettner, U.W. Überschall and the singer of Alphaville: Marian Gold. The result is a mix of relaxed techno with Klaus Schulze sequences and many samples of soundfractures. Schulze from a different modern side.

Klaus Schulze's Wahnfried - Miditation

Artist: Klaus Schulze
P: 1986 / 2012
Remastered
"Wahnfried" is actually a side project for Klaus Schulze. Schulze has offered a couple of reasons why the Wahnfried project. One is that it gives him a chance to collaborate with other artists, although he has done that on Schulze albums as well. The other is that it gives him a chance to explore different musical territories, which it definitely has. Wahnfried's first few efforts were in a more "rock" vein, while the last three covered techno territory. This one however, sounds like a mixture of a few earlier Klaus Schulze albums, and probably would have fit under his own name. Track 1 is with Steve Jollife (flute) and starts with synths and flute, reminding me of Edgar Froese's "Stuntman" album. After a few minutes the sequencer comes on, and the middle piece of the track sounds like "Trancefer", with flute instead of cello. Track 2 starts off with "Wahnfried 1883" (from "Timewind") type ambience, when a "Body Love" sequence starts to bubble, mixed with Michael Shrieve-ish percussion, although he doesn't play on this album. Fans of early 80's Klaus Schulze should really like this, as it sounds more "Schulzian" than one would expect, coming under the Wahnfried name.

Klaus Schulze's Wahnfried - Trance Appeal

Artist: Klaus Schulze
P: 1996/ 2007
Produced & mixed by Klaus Schulze.
Composed, played & arranged by Richard Wahnfried & Jörg Schaaf.

KDM describes it: “Marooned” (13:12) is a track which I received from Klaus a few years after "Trance Appeal". It was part of twelve CD-Rs full of studio recordings by Klaus (and guests), planned for another set release that later became the five (or six) CD set “Contemporary Works 2".
The present bonus track is a little part from the fifty percent of then unreleased music. On both sessions (the orginal TRANCE APPEAL as well as on the bonus) Klaus is joined by Joerg Schaaf, and both sessions were indeed designated for Klaus’ “Wahnfried” project and albums.
