Ramsaygee

Born in 1973, RamsayGee grew up in South Africa in a musical family, singing parts in arranged four part harmonies at many prestigious functions from an early age, including a television series called "Sing with us" produced and directed by his mother for the S.A.B.C. The Musical interest in his household was very diverse, which led him to grow with a very broad interest in many musical genres. However, the serious interest in music production only began to evolve many years later. Aside from many years of DJ gigs and live singing, RamsayGee has been involved in music production and song writing, collaborating with many artists. Formally the vocalist for two rock bands, he also performed next to Maz Palladino (former backing vocalist for artists like Paul Young and Sting) in Motown Magic which was staged at Twickenham Rugby stadium. He has also co written many pieces with his brother who runs the Groove Academy for the Learning of Music development for the youth in in late 2008, one of the songs they co-wrote was performed by the Academy in a special guest appearance at the Royal Albert Hall. Being interested in diverse cultures and their common language of music, and lending many inspirations from daydreams and western and eastern folk music alike, he has experimented and attempted to paint the visionary images that he sees in his mind, to communicate through technology as accurately as possible, the feeling and images and to journey through the auditory senses, to another place. He attempts the same journey through digital art.

Ramsaygee - Digital Nights

"Digital Nights" presents a majestic musical soundscape that definitely fits into the "journey" category, where the ethnic rhythms are integrated into the more contemporary electronica motifs to startling effect. The variety of sounds and styles attained is quite remarkable and the overall feel is one of excitement and anticipation as the listener is taken on a dazzling musical trek that'll leave your head spinning, but also hitting the replay button to go round again.
Rhythms are the order of the day here, verging from electronica to rock to tribal rhythms and back again. But there is also some wonderfully delicate and hauntingly atmospheric work too, all held together by the superb musicianship of those involved. There are some terrific themes that'll have you humming the tunes long after the music has faded into space, and with one song flowing seamlessly into another, both albums have an epic feel about them that brings to mind some of the best contemporary thematic albums in both the electronic and the prog rock genres in the past 25 years.

Ramsaygee - Exotique

The second release by newcomer Ramsaygee is as exiting and diverse as the first. Once again, a varied rhythmic palette is presented that has interesting and catchy world drum and percussion influences both electronic and real. Guitars and vocal textures are again sprinkled with care as the musical vistas remind us of other cultures, and the wide variety of styles has a sense of excitement and journeying to far off lands.
Ramsaygee imbues his creations with strong themes and catchy melodies that are sometime gentle, other times epic and always engrossing. But there is also a strong sense of drama in some of the works and some engrossing atmospherics. Everything is held together by superb keyboard work by Ramsaygee and the excellent musicianship of everyone else involved. The interlinking tracks give a strong contemporary, thematic feel to the album and like the first album, "Exotique" is a unique and original offering.

Another extraordinary musical offering from RamsayGee. Dense rhythmic layers provide the backdrop for a totally unique sound that flirts with ethnic, electronica, dub and dance resulting in a stunning modern folk style. The music is varied and melodic; always interesting and contains some wonderful "off the wall" moments - just listen to the mesmerising "Tennis" track for example. This is inspired and totally original music that really grows on you.

Various Artists - The First Snow

There are Christmas albums, and then there are Christmas albums. "ChristmasAD - The First Snow" is an outstanding collection of instrumental Christmas music that's appeal is that everyone is going to enjoy it!
A good Christmas album should contain some old classics plus some familiar pop titles to warm you on a cold winter evening as you sit by the fireside. So on this collection there are eight favourites, expertly re-imagined, plus eleven brand new Christmas songs that perfectly reflect the Christmas spirit.
"The Dancing Snowman" by David Wright & Geigertek is delightfully OTT and perfectly starts proceedings, and what follows is pure bliss! Steve Barnes and RamsayGee provide real romantic heart with five beautiful pieces: Steve's being the classic favourites "Little Town of Bethlehem", "Good King Wenceslas" and "God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen" and Gareth's being the sublime self penned "First Snow" and "Season's Wish". Catalin Marin returns with his epic, ethnic influenced "A Star in the East", and new artists Claudio Merlini and The Pels Syndicate contribute a stunning melodic track each with "Christmas Wonderland" and "Xmas5" respectively. Richard Bone provides two glorious covers in "Do You Hear What I Hear" and "Donde Esta Santa Claus?" while Acheloo and Robert Fox provide beautifully moody interpretations of "White Christmas" and "Silent Night". Al Rudd's "The Magic of Christmas?" provides the albums glorious "Tim Burton" influenced moment (think "A Nightmare at Christmas"!) while Lord of the Ants provides an atmospheric acoustic number that perfectly reflects "Christmas In New York". David Wright's rhythmic electronic version of "We Three Kings" and Bekki Williams beautifully orchestrated "Where is Santa?" end the album perfectly. The sound of children's laughter briefly open and close the album, reminding us perhaps that Christmas is about peace and good will reflected in the joy and laughter of innocence.
The collective artists on the label have really excelled here, presenting an emotive and memorable collection of Christmas tunes that delicately, and without exception, successfully walk the line between feel good melodic music and contemporary, creative, classically influenced new age/electronic music.
Beautifully recorded and produced, this is one classy album that is destined to run and run.
