Blue Lily Commission

Blue Lily Commission is the solo project of Stephen Palmer, science-fiction author and founding member of the psychedelic space band Mooch. Blue Lily Commission was set up to create trancey ethnic beats, using computers and samples, but also plenty of real instruments, played by Steve: flutes, guitars, saz, lute, etc. The project has also featured the singing of Karen Anderson, well known on the Bay Area underground music scene.

Following on from the 2008 release "Eve Songs" comes the sixth Blue Lily Commission album "Bharatadubs." The tone of this album is Indian, from the light and subtle opener 'Karma,' through the central part of the album, the trio of dub tracks based on Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu, aka the Indian deities of creation, destruction and preservation, to the lengthy closer
'Samsara,' with its hypnotic sequences and delay effects. The music here moves on from the two dub tracks on "Eve Songs" with the addition of drums and a selection of real Indian instruments. Prepare to chill out under an evening sky in the Indian subcontinent...

The year is 2000. Steve, Amanda and cat Daisy live in Sidmouth, Devon, about a mile from the sea. Steve has become interested in ethnic music, especially that from Arabia, North Africa and India. Having acquired his first ever synthesizer - a Korg N5EX - he decides to put Mooch to sleep
for a while and begin a new project, inspired by the likes of Shpongle, The Orb, and much world music. But with Andy Garibaldi temporarily out of action he has no label to release the music, and so it appears online in the new MP3 format, and as self-made CDRs...

This release uses the remastered editions created by Steve using T-Racks software. Bonus tracks come from the third album, Seshen and the White Jasmine Commission, which was never released on CDR.
