It's really hard to describe this genre, this album is so different from all the other synthesizer CDs that we've heard before. And it's incredibly cool. The musical elements used have never been heard on a synth CD before. Perhaps you could call it "synth rock".

There are treasures that lie hidden. Even their existence seems to be a closely guarded secret. Detlev Schmidtchen's three-CD box is one such treasure. The ex-Eloy keyboardist ventures into worlds that his former band has unfortunately not reached for a long time. These worlds conjure up the old Eloy spirit, but expand it to include classic German electronic worlds in the spirit of Kraftwerk. The spiritual approach, which has unfortunately degenerated into a cliché with Eloy, is always credibly pursued here. And you often think: Oh, Mr. Bornemann, do something with Mr. Schmidtchen again. He simply has a feeling for moods, variations and sounds... Although there is no major label behind "Last Planet", the production comes across as official: beautiful dynamics, a clear sound and no loudness war blaring, as Eloy has recently been doing with their records. Hearing the "Sun Song" with an electronic slant is almost priceless for the Eloy fan. Thumbs up also for Schmidtchen's occasional guitar interludes, which are absolutely tastefully in the Floyd vein. All in all, this planetary trilogy makes you want to hear other neglected works from the Eloy family.

 With Vanthasia I was able to follow my feelings freely and move in my "fantasy". Even the term fantasy becomes vanthasia. This project cannot be pigeonholed - it is very personal music that every listener has to experience, feel and classify individually. Immerse yourself in the sounds, let yourself go, get excited, be happy and dream through and with the music. Breaking out and exceeding established norms is intentional. The sound and the overall picture are imaginary creations. They correspond to your own, real fantasy: vanthasia! With this in mind, I hope you enjoy the musical and emotional journey with vanthasia!
