AGE

Emmanuël D'haeyere's music is more than simply ambient - it seems to fill the listener's space, creating a different environment. The pieces slowly unfold, evoking a range of emotions and images. Although not popularly known, he tries to innovate in modern electronic music. In high school he played keyboards.

He grew up listening to Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Classical music,Tomita, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, that sort of thing. He started experimenting with playing around 1975. He started out using mostly just a sequencer, like monophonic. Those were reasonably priced. There are still some tapes of that early stuff; actually, he wants to release it as a best of. That stuff is like early electronic cosmic from the eighties.

AGE - Hypnagogie

The hypnagogic state is a particular state of consciousness, the one that appears when we pass from the awakening to the sleep.
' Hypnagogie ' evocates this state by avoiding any overly objective structure in order to allow a drift where thoughts arise despite us, unconstructed and different at each listening. This explains the lack of rhythms, constructed instrumentation or melodic phrases.

Landscapes by Age is One of the gems of the early 80's then released on Vinyl. It represents for me one of the pinacles of Belgium Elektronic Music.. Emmanuël D haeyer and Guy Vachaudez created a stunning warm album that even until today stood the test of time. The Track Symfonieën still is one of my favorite EM songs of all time. With the re-release on CD we also have added 3 tracks from the early era of the music of AGE. Tides is from the time that Landscapes was made, but never was released before. AGE in concert is from the unique KLEM cassette from 1986, a fantastic track that builds from very small to an epic end!

Clouds are sometimes white, sometimes peaceful, sometimes dark, sometimes threatening. Like storm castles they draw a flamboyant sunset or diaphanous filaments drifting very high. How can we not see them as visible evocations of our moods? How can we not find there a resonance of our emotions? And search a sign of what tomorrow will be? Nephelomancy is about the inspection of clouds as a way to divination. The music evokes the ever-changing aspects of the sky. During a long non-stop journey it takes you ever higher, to the confines of the atmosphere, where the last clouds, the cirrus clouds, formed of ice crystals, drift peacefully in the purest lights.
