John Lakveet - Building sequential stones vol. 1

Artist: John Lakveet
P: 2003
This is a spectacular album where John Lakveet shows his talent in the creation of complex themes with powerful rhythms, mysterious melodies and unusual atmospheres.
The 14 pieces included in this CD are pure Space Sequencer music of the best quality, with the philosophy of exploring new sonic continents nonetheless without abandoning melody and rhythm. The artist stages a spectacular performance of synthesizers and sequencers, all of them set at the service of electronic music in its most cosmic side. The melodies are intense, lucid, direct. The rhythms are usually based on the sequencers. The music has a certain majestic air, and helps to evoke, in the imagination of the listener, voyages to exotic places and impressive experiences. Here we have a recording, in short, that no lover to these kinds of music should miss in their collection.

John Lakveet - Building sequential stones vol. 2

Artist: John Lakveet
P: 2004
Volume 2 starts strong with a slower-paced sequence in “Presbytery” that builds the song in just the right manner. “West Column” has a gentle but rapid musical phrase much like Rudy Adrian’s excellent Berlin school style, then shifts to a nearly silent section that works very well in contrast. The dreamy “Time Is Gone” is a wonderful floater.
The lead synth on “Cheer Up” is a little too cute, but is offset by the darkness that follows in “Crypt”. Another ambient track is “Sentry”, an effective experimental adventure by Lakveet that is really more sound collage than tune. It’s hard to cover all the ground here, but you will find the terrain well worth your time exploring.

John Lakveet - Epikus

Artist: John Lakveet
P: 2003

In his second solo album, John Lakveet has succeeded in creating an epic symphony, intense, full of warmth, beauty, stormy atmospheres, and also mystery.
With a first hearing the listener already perceives the effort there are behind this project. In successive hearings, the range of this CD appears in all its greatness. The music is impetuous, risky, able to evoke situations where the emotions are given a free run and adrenaline floods all our entire being. The dramatic melodies and strong sequences that appear in certain passages, provide some of the compositions with an apocalyptic atmosphere.
This album takes us towards the unknown eras of yesterday, but also towards the unknown tomorrow. In short, this is a magnificent album, which no doubt will contribute to increasing the reputation of this artist.

John Lakveet - Force of Reason

Artist: John Lakveet
P: 2005

“The Force Of Reason” again opens with superb sequences in “Leibniz And Contingency”. It is not all sequences on the album: on “Copleston Aperture” and the brilliant “Checkmate To B. Russell” John shows his skills in the field of ambient. In the last track he moves from ambient to a great sequence.
And there is more: “Descartes, The Lance Argument” with its driving and pumping sequences and the epic “Nihil-Buster”. Yes, John creates a long track after all, one of more than 24 minutes. It opens with experimental soundscapes, than comes a kind of an eighties feeling in case of rhythm, Mellotron flutes, more soundscapes and ending with parts that could be uses as film music. This piece shows another side of John and it is a fascinating side.
With “The Force Of Reason” the master of the sequence also shows he is a master of ambiences.

John Lakveet - Proportions

Artist: John Lakveet
P: 2005

Sequences are John’s speciality, pulsating and hypnotising. The sequencing on “Proportions” is great; he is really an absolute master in creating the right sequences. Just listen to the multi-sequences in the opening track “Fractal Clouds” and this becomes clear. It is not all sequences on the album: John is also very capable in adding interesting ambient sounds to his music, like in “Randomize Fractions”. The melodies on the album are also beautiful. Just listen to “Confusion Of Integral”.
Perhaps the best sequences on the cd can be heard on “Elipse O” and “Awakes Disorder”.
“Square Serial” is a collaboration with his fellow countryman Dom F. Scab.
It’s a great melodical track with easy rhythms and a fine overall atmosphere. These gentlemen know what they are doing. John Lakveet produces unique music of great beauty and warmth. With his approach it is well possible for him to manage a breakthrough into the top of EM.
With “Proportions” he has made another step in this direction.
