Ginkgo Garden

Ginkgo  Garden, the internationally successful music project of German composer, producer and musician Eddy F. Mueller, has in the last couple of years gained much acclaim for its outstanding crossover of Pop and New Age sensibilities. EDDY F. MUELLER obtained his musical experience in Hagen, Germany, the origin of an abundance of rock acts in the early 80s. Eddy was coming along as a guitarist and keyboarder of different rock bands in those days and shaping up from a live rock musician to a song writer whose instrument turned into a recording studio. Instrumental music produced by electronic and acoustic instruments is Eddy's genre and for him it is not that much important how his music is called or compared with. Comments and comparisons to other music, Vangelis, Kitaro, Enigma or Cusco, Eddy accepts as complimentary.

Ginkgo Garden - Back in Time

Artist: Ginkgo Garden
P: 2002

For their fourth album "Back In Time" Ginkgo Garden turn the clock back over 200 million years and enter the age of Dinosaurs - the so - called Jurassic Period. Mother Nature was still young then and the ginkgo, the oldest tree in the world, spread its first sprouts. Dinosaurs appeared and the existence of mankind lay far ahead. The symbiosis of animals and plants was peaceful.
Mastermind Eddy F. Mueller, who once again has written all compositions for this new Ginkgo Garden album, created a musical time travel and went "Back In Time" with his choice of instruments and elements: a mixture of voices, guitars, saxophones, Japanese bamboo flutes (Shakuhachi), analog keyboard sounds and "Far Eastern" sound samples adds up to an Asiatic/European retro sound which enhances the album’s central idea and fits perfectly into the unique style of Ginkgo Garden. Established characterisations like "New Age" or "New Instrumental" or "World Music" can only partly describe this music because Ginkgo Garden use a multitude of styles to enchant the listener.

Ginkgo Garden - Faith, Hope + Love

Artist: Ginkgo Garden
P: 2005

What Eddy F. Mueller has now achieved by two years of hard work in the studio is quite a quantum leap in the development of Ginkgo Garden: the music on “Faith, Hope & Love“ finally denies all categorization, terms as “Ethnic-Pop“, “EM“, “New Age“ and “Chill Out“ each only describe aspects of its many facets.Inspired by the Wall-Of-Sound aesthetics of the sixties and early seventies Ginkgo Garden blends vintage guitar- and keyboard-sounds with synthies, multi-layered vocals, exotic sound samples, and puts catchy melodies into pop- and New Age-sounds. All these elements are treated with state-of-the-art production and carry Eddy F. Mueller's unique musical stamp.Great efforts were put into the fascinating vocal work on the record: Asiatic chants, artfully arranged choirs and English language lead vocals offer a rich variety. The lyrics are deeply spiritual and full of biblical images, but transcend any specific religion – they enrich the music of Ginkgo Garden with encouraging and uplifting messages which listeners will gratefully welcome.

Ginkgo Garden - Leaves of Hope

Artist: Ginkgo Garden
P: 1993 / 2006

This first Ginkgo Garden album is entrancing tribute to the amazing phenomenon of the Ginkgo tree. At over 250 million years old, it is the oldest tree on planet Earth. The ginkgo biloba is a resistant survivor and stands for hope of peace; its leaves heal and their symmetrical heart shape symbolizes harmony, as they unite seeming differences: male / female, East / West, loud / low, one / double...
“Leaves of Hope” reflects the ancient mysticism of the ginkgo tree and the soothing electronic ambiences of contemporary times. Inspiration and emotion are transposed into music and the listener's imagination is set free to be carried away on a relaxing journey through the Ginkgo Garden.

Ginkgo Garden - Letters from Earth

Artist: Ginkgo Garden
P: 1999

This CD contains thirteen musical letters sent from earth to all people of our world.
With this crystalline pop production, dramatic rhythms and evocative world influences EDDY F. MUELLER sets out once again to build imaginary bridges between East and West, music and painting, mankind and nature, Heaven and Earth. Inspiration and emotion are transposed into music: The >Letters From Earth< are composed of familiar GINKGO GARDEN music elements and some new ideas: Japanese spoken poems and quotations from the Bible, vocal pop songs, catchy saxophone and synth hook lines and a fantastic CD booklet full of painted ginkgo dreams.
Time and again artists have been inspired by the aesthetic charm of ginkgo leaves. Atsuko Kato, a Japanese painter who has lived in Germany since 1976, strives for “unity with nature” through her inspirational art. The organic landscapes of Atsuko Kato paintings portray symbiosis of orient and occident. The ginkgo image is a recurring motif throughout her work. Some GINKGO GARDEN CD covers as well as the booklet of >Letters From Earth< are creations by Atsuko Kato.

Ginkgo Garden - Secret Call

Artist: Ginkgo Garden
P: 1996

A year after the release of the first GINKGO GARDEN-CD >Leaves Of Hope< EDDY F. MUELLER could not put down his thoughts of the fascinating theme of GINKGO and its varied symbolism. Soon Eddy was engrossed in his unique music project. As if a calling, Eddy ventured into musical composition that not only entertain, but do musical justice to “the wonder tree”. CD: >SECRET CALL<
Through Eddy’s music, the listener learns why the ginkgo symbolizes unity of opposites (East / West, day / night, black / white, Yin / Yang, loud / soft). In portraying complementarily, the symmetric, fan-shaped leaf (“biloba”) is also a symbol of love. Likewise, unity is reflected in the complement between the ginkgo symbol and the sound of Eddy’s music.
