Brendan Pollard - Expansion

Artist: Brendan Pollard
P: 2005
Brendan Pollard plays Mellotron M400 plus various tape frames, Beast Duophonic Modular System, Bohm Soundlab Modular System, SRS RP3 Noise Generator Modular System, Doepfer MAQ 16/3 Sequencer, Fender Rhodes Stage 54, Elka Rhapsody, Arp Pro DGX, Micromoog, Octave Kitten, SRS Aurora Monosynth, SRS Philtertron, Roland JP8000, SRS Dual Phaser Units, Dynacord EC280 Echo, and Dynacord Analogue Delay.
No computer, Atari or any software was used.
This is reliving the 70's all over again, TD resurrected once more. Brendan delivers the goods right on target. Loads of sequences, Mellotrons and more mellotrons what more could you possibly want/ask for. The genre of Spacemusic was born out of a hand-full of albums released by a few Berlin based groups in the mid-1970s.
Since that time, a great deal of music has been created which owes much to this faction's inspired early work. Of the multitude of albums produced, only a few manage to accurately re-create the mysterious moods and sprawling scale found on the originals. Add to this constellation Expansion (60'55") by Brendan Pollard. This album aspires to something beyond the mere imitation of the classics. Pollard's work is more about rediscovering the spacious minimalism responsible for the enigmatic character of the original than it is the process of moment-by-moment recreation.

Brendan Pollard - Filaments

Artist: Brendan Pollard
P: 2024
LTD

This one is a raw, dark and menacing experience yet still retaining the classic “Berlin School” elements.
It features Pollard's huge raft of keyboards and synths such as the good old Mellotron M400 (with various tape frames), expanded MU Modular System and Sequencer units, Elka Rhapsody 610, ARP Pro Soloist, ARP Omni 2, Moogs, Rolands, Yamaha and more.

Brendan Pollard - Flux Echoes

Artist: Brendan Pollard
P: 2007
This CD follows along the lines of his Expansion CD with loads of wonderful Mellotron sounds plus as an added bonus he's incorporated the sounds of a guest guitarist. 4 tracks totaling 73:26 minutes of Berlin School music. A massive gear list accompanies this new release. Flux Echoes (73'26") pulses within the aura of Ricochet, Rubycon and Phaedra.
With these classics enshrined (along with an impressive inventory of '70s era instruments) in his musical core, Brendan Pollard realizes music that melds thirty year old hopes and dreams with the possibilities of the 21st century.
The four tracks travel from regions of elemental expressive force and bursts of dazzling sequencer facility to moments of powerful stillness. This album is full of indulgent Mellotron pads, glittering synth modulations and throbbing modular rhythms - and may have listeners imagining their movement through space, or is it space that is moving through them? We are always at home in our past, yet Pollard's work encourages us to hear this music anew.
It's exciting to witness a musician, starting out in an age of digital idea-junkies, make the medium large again.
A must for the old school Tangerine Dream fans.

Brendan Pollard - Isolated Passages

Artist: Brendan Pollard
P: 2020

With the recent extraordinary Covid events I took time from our isolation and decided to perform some improvised pieces direct from the studio via Facebook Live. Sadly I missed the first few minutes of the first piece forgetting to press record, silly me, but the rest is captured in glorious stereo. Yes there's clicks and bumps, it's not perfect, it's Live. I decided to release these pieces along with similar pieces I had in the vaults, live studio sequencing, an alternate take of piece two, and an extract of another improvised piece.
