Agate Rollings

AGATE ROLLINGS is an experimental electronic duo formed by ALESSANDRO SGARITO and STEFANO GALLONE.

The project was born in Rome in 2010 when these two personalities have come in contact, but the official start of every artistic work is the start of the year 2012 because of the first official record named Lost battle against failure.
The sound of Agate Rollings is so much dilated, sometimes without a definite rhythm and its purpose is to express through music an inner cold made of ice deserts soundscapes which are so far but so known because of the feelings perceived in composition, execution and recording sessions.
Studio and technology are two more important elements in the building of sound construction, but so much more space is left for improvisations in the same time of the human empathy between sound and state of mind looking for other places made of imagination.
The first record talks about the sense of loosing ourselves with the help of a musical simulation for a scent of a dying soul. This loss is about a “lost battle” against external forces such as the “failure” of an entire generation without a real guilt and with no more hopes. So the fight against the tragic sense of failure is more human than the human side that already exists in our soul.
Our common target is to bring back the music at her main (and forgotten) purpose: to be the voice of her creators, the soundtrack of an entire life.

AGATE ROLLINGS is an Ambient/ Electro Acoustic duo formed by Alessandro Sgarito and Stefano Gallone in 2010 in Rome (Italy). Their storytelling soundscapes of musical visions of sound and mental state, seem to constantly evolve and transmigrate in imaginary territories. Exploring and expanding this concept, Alessandro and Stefano not only offer 120 minutes of sounds and perceptions but also a photographic tale by Alessandro Sgarito and a book, including images by Alessandro and words by Stefano.  The idea for the title and the concept of the album came from the conformation of two islands called Big and Little Diomede and located in the middle of the Bering Strait between mainland Alaska and Siberia, which borders with the Chukchi Sea to the north and the Bering Sea to the south. Because they are separated by the International Date Line, Big Diomede is almost a day ahead of Little Diomede but with only 2,4 miles of distance. Because of this the islands are sometimes called Tomorrow Island (Big Diomede) and Yesterday Isle (Little Diomede). DIOMEDE is an inner journey, metaphorically passing through sounds and images to any place where life is good.
