Bertrand Loreau feat. Lambert - In Search of Silence

Artist: Bertrand Loreau & Lambert
P: 2016

Bertrand has always been a fan of TD and Klaus Schulze since his youth in the 70s.
On this album he presents the basic concept and basic structure for a big Berlin School work containing three long tracks like it was usual in the 70s.
Bertrand used analog equipment especially a modular system which is responsible for great sounding sequences.
Lambert coming from the “Tangerine Dream school“ added many effects and atmospheric sounds and put weight on making good tranistions between the tracks that you feel it is complete opus. Most of the music have been played spontaneously during one take.
This enriches the character of the 70s when the Berlin School pioneers improvised on the sequences.
This interplay should be a delight for the fans of the 70s Berlin School style.
Check it out.

Hypnosphere - Magnetism

Artists: Hypnosphere
P: 2007

Even though there are eight index points this is really one track split into parts with each part running seamlessly from one to the next. Unlike their first album this one is a Berlin School fest right from the opening second.
An excellent atmospheric intro leads straight into the initial sequence which builds wonderfully to become a bass laden rumbling stormer. Massed choral pads increase the intensity to almost apocalyptic proportions. In the fifteenth minute the sequences depart and we enter water dripping subterranean realms. A fresh slow sequence emerges like some throbbing transformer which gradually becomes faster and increasingly complex as more lines of pulsations come to join it working up to quite an awe inspiring frenzy.
The Second Part is a short interlude of windy effects and electronic bleeps.
The Third begins with rainy effects then a locomotive chugging sequence followed by yet another sequence- quite awesome it is too- incredibly powerful in a rather Redshift sort of way. It constantly shifts its position within the mix as it rises and falls in intensity but when it is at its peak I wanted to punch the air with excitement.
The Fourth Part is much darker with ominous organ sounds creating quite an eerie atmos.
Mellotron and more stormy effects get the Fifth Part underway. More tron is introduced- this time of the celestial choir variety. We finish with the sound of what could be a spaceship coming down to Earth.
Part Six initially continues in this same vein before restrained sequences return. Indeed this is quite a subtle hypnotic track.
We return to atmospherics for the rather short Part Seven. It’s all rather dark and gloopy with some strange effects, a little like half heard chatter deep in the mix. Looped percussion, almost like a hammer on an anvil provides a curious focus.
The Final Part finishes the album off in style as yet another excellent sequence surges forward then more lines of pulsations fall into formation (some of them quite melodic) as things build and build until the fourth minute when the intensity subsides a little to allow for a regrouping then rejuvenated sequences and rhythms make one final wonderful surge.
A highly recommended album.

Jiannis + Lambert - Timeless Vision

Artist: Jiannis + Lambert
P: 1988 / 1999
These two composers combine their respective styles very well, thus achieving that their music possesses an unusual personality, very imaginative, capable of attracting the attention of the listener at once. The general style of this work can be placed between Space and instrumental symphonism.
Some passages are cold, mysterious. Others turn out to be warm, emotional. There are slow themes and other lively ones. The rhythms are sequencer-based mostly. The melodies are very emotional, with romantic and also solemn traits, yet without falling into an excessive sweetness.
This is a recording of a concert Jiannis Zedamanis and Lambert Ringlage gave in August 1988 at the "Alte Feuerwehrhaus" (in English: old firestation) in German Kreuztal. It was interested to hear how the distinctive styles of the two blended. Jiannis used to play music in the true "Berliner Schule"-way, Lambert does that also but adds a lot of melody and rhythm to it.
The recording is done directly from the mixing console. After a strange sound, like a duck, the cd starts with the track "White Light" which sets the standard for the rest of the cd. This means quite melodical vintage electronic music which never gets to complicated. It is known Lambert is a master of the sequencer and that can be heard well on a piece like "SUN".
"Piano" shows the direction Jiannis would go after his days in electronic music. A fine retrospective cd.

Lambert + J. Schmoelling - Bon Courage

Artist: Lambert & Johannes Schmölling
P: 2023

Since the last CD "Drachenreise", Lambert has participated in productions by Vanderson, Bertrand Loreau and Johannes Schmoelling. The new album shows Lambert from a familiar, Tangerine Dream-oriented side.
But new accents also let the music shine in a new light.
A lively opener carries us to new horizons, other tracks let us glide dreamily into other spheres. Pearly hypnotic tone patterns and deep sound harmonies cast a spell over you.
The tracks reflect different emotional states and moods.
"Bon Courage" is an encouragement and a source of happiness for coping with all the ups and downs of our lives. Music can help us feel emotions that are difficult to capture with words.
As a bonus, this CD contains a cooperation track with Johannes Schmoelling (Tangerine Dream 1980-85), which immerses itself completely in the atmosphere of Hyperborea.

Lambert - Dimensions of Dreams

Artist: Lambert
P: 1995
This CD from 1995 features 73 minutes of spry electronic music, Lambert is joined by Andreas Paeth on guitar on one track. Strict keyboard strokes generate lively melodies here, embellished by broader textures that held cement the pieces into congenial wholes. Jubilant riffs unfold with heavenly tonalities providing airy contrasts. At other times, the melodies exhibit grimmer undertones. Meticulous E-perc enhances this solemn disposition with languid rhythms. Inevitably, however, Lambert's optimism overwhelms these grave sentiments, coloring the harmonics with lighter tones and smirking electronic effects that loosen all tension with psychic tickling. While other tracks utilize these dense, deep-toned beats to more frolicsome purpose, accomplishing rhythms that lift the spirits with their energetic patter. At this point, Paeth's guitar injects a fiery blaze of passion that send the tune soaring to stratospheric altitudes. And when the guitar pauses, Lambert's keyboards perpetuate that lofty sense with vivacious chords that defy the pull of gravity. This enforced levitation is a dominant aspect in much of the music on this CD. The tendency for upward movement can be considered a signature trait of Lambert's, found in the majority of his compositions. Dreams are usually quite subjective perceptions, but Lambert has found a way to translate his somnambulant experiences into music that is conducive to objective interpretations.

Lambert - Drachenreise

Artist: Lambert & Gandalf
P: 2015

The fans have been waiting for 20 years for a new solo album by Lambert,
With a new synthesizer and unusual ideas Lambert starts his dragon’s journey (=Drachenreise) on an adventure trip into new sounds and new harmonies but though kept his typical Lambert-style.
His musical breakthrough took place in 1991 when releasing his first CD Inside Out which made Lambert the 2nd best newcomer at the famous german radio show “Schwingungen” in 1992.
Concerts, further solo and colaboration CDs supported his image of a popular electronic sequencer musician (Berlin school style, Tangerine Dream 80s era).
On “Drachenreise” Lambert picks up this element and combines this with new charmful ideas: Harmonically embedded voice effects, unusual chords, accessible melodies and touching sounds go into a mix with rhythmical sequencer tones.
”Drachenreise” is an interesting blend of electronic, sequencer-based music and new
sounds, that refreshes known listening habits with new impulses and evokes many emotional moments.
As a special guest the famous artist Gandalf played electric guitar on the first track Corona.

Lambert - Mirror of Motions

Artist: Lambert
P: 1993
This CD from 1993 features 75 minutes of lively electronics.
Joining Lambert's lush electronics on two tracks is Boris Glitzner on drums.
Energetic keyboards produce lively chords that float with subtle agitation, stirring the listener's soul with their passionate influence. Soft E-perc propels the flow to an increased upbeat disposition. The background is often littered with synthetic effects that chitter and buzz, generating a distant otherworldly impression. Lush textures are overlaid with invigorated cycles, creating a surging spiral to carry the audience aloft. Glittering guitar riffs add a tasty diversion, cavorting amid these aerial excursions and providing a strident counterpart for the multi-layered nest of keyboards.
Ricocheting patterns evoke a frenetic temperament, one that sneakily accelerates the pulse-rate as the mind strives to keep pace with the frolicking melodies. Exhaustion is not a factor, though, for the music imparts its energy to the listener, inciting a physical partnership with the harmonics that reinforces stamina through sonic induction.
Velocity is integral to the music on this release. These swift compositions are vivacious and spur the audience to unconscious toe-tapping. All the while, the tuneage nibbles at the cerebral cortex, contaminating dormant synapses with melodies designed to inspire intellectual rumination.
