Timescape - Daughters of Jupiter

Artist: Timescape
P: 2005
The four Galilean moons are the inspiration for Daughters of Jupiter (61'37"), the wonderful collaboration between Tony Andersen and Kent Eskildsen of Timescape.
Each of the four tracks delve into the mysterious beauty and scientific contemplation surrounding these enigmatic Jovian satellites. The music is completely textural, and creates a beautiful yet mysterious space within the listener. Massive reverberation added to fluctuating digital timbres make for an interesting drift through a region of space no human has ever visited. The rising and falling of synth tones resolves into a sustaining electronic environment, which builds into a dense atmosphere of unique sounds and effects. The soundfield is also capable of thinning out to near transparency in this fragile and stimulating work.
Science has provided the world with images and facts by looking into space, Timescape translates this knowledge into a work of personal human expression by looking within themselves.

Timescape - Live at Fermaten 2009

Artist: Timescape
P: 2010
It is always difficult to capture a live concert on disc, but that night at Fermaten, it worked out really well, and Timescape decided to release this CD with some great live versions of old pieces as well as a few new ones. So we find relaxed lounge music and some really moody electronic titles.

Timescape - One small Step and a giant Leap

Artist: Timescape
P: 1998
Kent Eskildsen/Timescape "one small step" for those of you familiar with tangerine ambience 2, kent is responsible for the great covers stratosfear and white eagle (recording as "token angle" and "kenton files"); "one small step" is kent's own music.
OSS is really quite good--as one would expect from hearing his stuff on TA2-- especially the 2 nice long tracks (12 & 14 minutes) which really "go places"; plus there's lots of layering, etc.
For Schmoelling fans, the title track (12 min) should be quite pleasing and it reminds a bit of JS's Zoo of tranquillity although it is certainly not "derivative" from it. Kent's a big TD fan and their influence definitely shows but this music really is unique.
If you compare this with anything else non-td, however, it might be with Ash Prema's 2nd cd SIASL. then again, some of the material on side 2 sounds almost (td) oasis-ish; as a guitar fan, it was especially nice, however to hear kent's excellent guitar work (he lists both acoustic, electric and guitar synths in his equipment list); a lot of otherwise good e-music remains somewhat flat because it just sticks with the synths so it was great to hear kent doing some guitar work as well; We always liked this about TD (in comparison with schulze say) and we think that part of what makes td so unique and appealing to us is the guitar work. As you may note from the title, the theme is the moon landing and it samples some of audio from the mission in a very pleasing fashion.

Here we hear long Ambientpassages with drifting sounds and fading reverbs. The Klaus Schulze Mellotron choir sound  is standing in the foreground and lets this music sound familiar. This time and space exploration has been used as pre-concert music at Timescape Concerts.

Timescape - Travelling Light

Artist: Timescape
P: 2007
The latest album release from the Danish electronic wizards Tony Andersen and Kent Eskildsen is a new step in their musical evolution.
After making the Navigator Trilogy Project “ Northern Consequence”, Oceanic Empire” and “Airwaves” with Jens Peschke, the two electronic musicians have entered the more accessible and commercial arena. Travelling Light contains electronic tracks with a lounge emphasis, as well as  fresh voices from the female singers Tina S. Johansen & Stine M. Knudsen.
Their voices immediately give way to a broader appeal of the musician`s style.
The songs “Sky is the limit” and “Time they say” give the listener an emotional anchor and I for one have been caught humming the two songs on several occasions.
For the more diehard krautrock fan, the album also contains the more classical electro tracks such as “Define Yourself”, “The Lab” and “Native”, in more upbeat versions.
Many use vocoder sounds, combining classic electronica with present sound.
Having the pleasure of attending numerous concerts with the band in the past, I for one have been very fond of their live experiments and drive. This has finally been realised on this new studio album.
For the electronic fanatics as well as the more relaxed lounge listeners.
This is certainly an album well recommended.
