Tangerine Dream - Catch me if you can

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 1989 / 1994

The music has an almost '50s feel to it, although some tracks are quite modern and a scant few show traces of a brilliant Tangerine Dream. This is a soundtrack for a US car race movie.

Tangerine Dream - Dead Solid Perfect

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 1989/1990
In early 1989, Tangerine Dream scored another film, released later in the year, but the soundtrack, "Dead Solid Perfect", was not released until 1990. The CD edition was not authorized by the band, which had not the chance to prepare the material for the album release. Who knows how this music would sound like after it had been doctored. On the one hand, the band might add something, delete something else, or join some tracks into compositions longer than those featured on the CD. On the other hand, we are presented with a unique opportunity to listen to the actual score that accompanied the motion picture. It would be best to have both versions, but we should be content with the result, given the fact that more often than not in recent years, Edgar Froese is likely to spoil whatever is still worth something.
The best tracks, very good ones, comparable to those on "Miracle Mile", are the opening 'Theme from Dead Solid Perfect', and then 'Tournament Montage', 'My Name Is Bad Hair' and 'Sand Trap', the latter (and also 'Kenny and Donny Montage') having much in common with the next soundtrack release, "Catch Me If You Can" of 1989. Most of other tracks are repetitions of tunes, single musical notes, miniatures, and reworkings, mixes of the same small set of ideas.

Tangerine Dream - Deadly Care

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 1987 / 1992

"Deadly Care" is a haunting, detached and at times a melancholic soundtrack. It's dark soundscapes are apropos and the quality of the musical performances are very refined. Tangerine Dream has many different styles and genres of music. Edgar Froese and friends entice listeners with an ominously profound, gloomy- but high quality CD, namely, Deadly Care.

Tangerine Dream - DM 1 Dream Mixes One (2 CD) (TDI)

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 1995

Six remixes and four brandnew tracks, contains bonus cd with two club mixes and another two completely new songs. Techno, ambient, and trance have exemplified the pop-capacity of electronic music for a handful of years now, yet truly lasting compositions have not exactly been abundant in the movement. Now, in the mid 1990s, one of the groups that brought synthesizers to the forefront of music (and who has been copied, sampled, covered, etc.) takes the influences of dance head-on. The result is frankly amazing. It is as if seasoned, visionary musicians picked up some of the same tools ambient groups have only been fooling around and showed everybody, "Well, this is how it can be done." The Dream Mixes single handily show what can be done with loops, beats, breaks, stabbing synth lines, and effects when in the hands of geniuses.

Tangerine Dream - DM 2 TimeSquare Dreammixes 2 (TDI)

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 1998

Back in 1995, Tangerine Dream released a CD entitled "The Dream Mixes", wherein the band revisited tracks from albums of then-recent vintage. "Timesquare" is labeled as "Dream Mixes Volume 2", but these remixes are so extreme as to elude recognition. Delivering high on the satisfaction chart, the music on this 58-minute CD is extremely uptempo and exciting. For TD's second Dream Mixes project, they clearly accessed all of their creative abilities and funneled them fully into this release.
Timesquare has a very polished and intricate feel that was lacking from their previous Dream Mixes. TD clearly integrate trance and techno rhythms and beats into this album, but they never satisfy themselves with overlaying these beats with just one rif that repeats for several minutes. This denial of the absortion into the monotony of techno music really gives this album a transcendent quality.  The second part of the successful "Dream Mixes" series. Contains one remix and six completely new tracks.

Tangerine Dream - DM 4 Dream Mixes 4

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 2003
Dream mixes 4 shows some nice done remixes of old material. This one is done so well that I can say it is the best one, after the other three.
The sounds blast out of your speakers. You hear music from Tangram, Cyclone, Exit, Force Majeure, Risky Business and Zeit. That wonderful track Cosmic Merriment shows how good Jerome stated the old material in a great remix, you only thought that you could not use such music in remix styles, but he did. This is an album that you must add to your collection.
Recorded 2003 in Berlin and Vienna Produced and performed by Jerome and Edgar Froese
The cover artwork will feature some never before seen picture footage from the archives of Monika Froese.
Jerome Froese - guitar on track 2 and 10
This album was recorded in its entirely using Steinerg's Cubase SX

Tangerine Dream - Dream Encores

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 1999

Here we have another example of live Tangerine Dream, but not a specific performance.
The contents of this 72-minute CD feature a collection of encore pieces spanning the band's live sets from 1986 to 1997, culled from concerts played all over the world. Although a clever gimmick guaranteed to appeal to fans of Tangerine Dream, the real power of this release is found in the music itself.
Thrilling, energetic and emotional, these pieces are prime examples of the qualities that established the band's international fame as electronic musicians of considerable importance. You will thrill to the heavenly melodies delivered via majestic synthesizers. You will be energized by lively E-perc that captures an inner rhythm and starts the head swaying and the foot tapping.
Your heart will soar with the emotional grandeur of the music -- for what is more grand or emotional than an epic encore at the end of a concert almost as physically draining for the audience as it was for the performers? Included are two non-Tangerine Dream compositions: Lennon & McCartney's "Eleanor Rigby" and Hendrix's "Purple Haze".
The band's treatment of the Beatles' classic is gentle and sentimental -- up to the point where it explodes with an unexpected fury that is both reverent and sensational.
Their version of the Hendrix song borders on raucous, dominated by searing guitars and traditional drums.
