Axess - Chamaeleon

P: 2003

The influence of the great EM musicians can be heard in several parts of this CD. But still the unique character of Axek develops out of each track. Sometimes Jarre, sometimes TD early eighties sequencer can be found here.

Axess - Seashore

Artists: Axess
P: 2018

Chill Out Beats and fine sequences embedded in a relaxing Lounge atmo. Sometimes meditative, sometimes decently surreal, dreamy hovering, spherical deep, at another time just single tones, then again floating or hypnotic with choir sounds… A warm basic atmosphere and the extraordinary sound quality make this album unique. Simplicity and tranquillity make this album very beautiful. The albums ends with a catchy earworm. A wonderful floating album which is excellent to calm down and enjoy slowness

Axess - Time Traveller

Artists: Axess
P: 2005

Axel Stupplich is back with his third solo effort outside of Pyramid Peak, Time Traveller. As with his previous releases, the emphasis is on energetic electronics and rhythms.
The title track is dance floor ready right out of the box, chugging along effusively from beginning to end. Much more relaxed is "The Uncertainty Principle," which slides into a cool groove and shuffles along quite enjoyably from there.
"Cuba Libre" is another moderately paced number, again a perfect balance between the beats and the cool synth sounds. Back we head on to the dance floor with "Fly Away," even more so than the opener. A light bright synth takes on the melody nicely. A quirky little bass sound brings up "Mirror Of Illusions," a growling churning sensual piece that is a lot of fun. Male chanting lends an ethnic touch to "Pharao," one of the very few dreamy atmospheric selections to be had. Though drums and bass do eventually arrive, it continues to move slow and easy. A lot of processed spoken vocals begin "Bombay Fruit Market," then an edgy aggressive synth totally makes me think of Jean-Michel Jarre when he’s having a techno moment. The word "fun" comes to mind often throughout Time Traveller, especially here. Crank it up, then take a breather for the ethereal 15-minute "World of Secrets" at the end.

Bekki Williams - Shadow of the Wind

Artist: Bekki Williams
P: 1997
"Shadow of the Wind is a masterpiece of symphonic electronic music that will remind many of the best works by the Euro Superstars Jarre and Vangelis... the level of sophistication both musically and instrumentally is stunning. It's rare that a relatively new artist comes up with anything this impressive".
"This is warm, melodic EM at its most accomplished. Bekki's style is a world away from the free-form analogue improvisations of some contemporary acts, and yet she represents what is probably the most accessible genre of EM, concentrating on melody and wide-eyed romanticism. Its potential appeal is great and she could turn out to be AD Music's first big breakthrough. Watch this space".

Bernd Kistenmacher - Outlines
Artist: Bernd Kistenmacher
P: 1991

Bernd Kistenmacher plays: Korg M1, Korg Wavestation, Waldorf Microwave, Hohner HS1, Casio VZ 10 M, Minimoog, Korg Mono/Poly, Oberheim OB-xa, ARP Odyssey.

Bernd Kistenmacher is one of the new generation of German electronic musicians who has produced three works that should well qualify him to take on the mantle of the Klaus Schulze of the nineties. Outlines is his most recent, and features four lengthy compositions blending analog and digital synthesizers to realize a set of spacy, melodic works that probably compare well with Schulze classics such as Audentity. The mood varies from spacy synth textures to aggressive passages with strong rhythm, to make for varied listening. In short, if you enjoy the works of Klaus Schulze, you could do worse than add this disc to your collection.

Bernd Kistenmacher - Wake Up In The Sun
Artist: Bernd Kistenmacher
P: 1988

This studio album dates from 1987, an era when the great bands and artists of the 70s virtually burned out, and entered the shallow waters of commercialization, muzak, elevator music and creative emptiness in general. However, the spirit does not die in the nation, and the late 80s spawned the new generation of electronic music. Yet again the German way of Electronica proved beyond doubt that they and only they have it in blood. If flamenco and tango burns like a fire in the southern musicians, almost by default, we can say the same about zee Teutons in the ambient/electronic genre.
Bernd Kistenmacher is a young lad who entered the stage in 1986 with his "Head Visions", and knocked us out completely with his next release, "Wake Up In The Sun".
If you feel as lost as I did years ago, i.e. if you know brand names only, then here's a hint, meine freund. Bernd composes in the good old tradition of electronic rock - taking the best inspirations from Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel, and most of all, Klaus Schulze and Michael Hoenig. These inspirations are eminent, no doubt, and they are evident on this album, especially with respect to Hoenig.
The first track of this album, over 20 minutes long, is a tribute to old masters. Whereas the influences are strong, we hear a distinct, young voice of originality.
The second track, the shortest on the album (just over 8 minutes) is one of the best ambient beats I have ever heard in my life. Incredibly rhythmic, with almost no drums, however - it rocks you, and yet the stigma of electronic meditation is undeniable. The second half of the album only gets better. No more Schulzian staccato, no more Klausian ostinato, no more Tangerine Arpeggio - just Bernd and his head visions. Although inspired, the structure of this over 20-minute track is evident from the very first minutes, but nevertheless it's an audiophiliac feast.

Sun, darkness, wind and silence - autumn has it all and we like it for that. Only when we live in harmony with nature and the seasons can we feel good and stay healthy.Under these Impressions, the new, wonderful and very emotional Bernd Scholl album "The Winds of Autumn" was created, which comes up with eight tracks. After the successful "Winter" album "Quiet Time" Bernd Scholl now dedicates himself musically completely to the autumnal season. After the solstice, the days become shorter and the nights longer again. So the new album starts with the very versatile title "Solstice" to continue with the title "Harvest Season" guitar-bluesy and novel. The absolute groover is represented by "October Sundance" with its catchy melody lines, before it continues with Gypsy acoustic guitars, melodic and also unexpectedly new again in the next track "Gypsy Soul". In the next composition, the spirit of "Autumn Colours" from the album "The View from here III" (2018) was resumed and finds a successful continuation with "Part II". How fast the wind can turn in autumn, you can experience in the track "Leaves in the Wind" - calm and movement in interplay. After a long time there is a very original and varied long track with "La Grotta Magica" (...inspired by Bernd Scholl's concerts in the natural cave Neandertal). With "Twilight Evening" the album "The Winds of Autumn" ends in a relaxed way.
The new work is something very special, because many new and interesting elements can be discovered and yet the musical signature of Bernd Scholl remains unmistakable!
