In 1976 originally Manuel invited MICHAEL HOENIG to join the tour as ART. Both rehearsed for about four weeks. As some shows had to be postponed, Manuel had to tour alone because of Michael's obligations. But they have recorded some of the rehearsals and the music was released 19 years later in the summer of 1995 as Early Water by Hoenig/Göttsching.

Departure from the Northern Wasteland was first released in 1977. It represents Michael Hoenig's return to a more compositional approach to music after working solely with improvisational music for five years. Each piece is developed largely from a mood, and though the music begins here, it is music that is finished in the mind of each listener. On this album, Hoenig works with the compositional concepts of a single tonal center and a basic rhythmic pulse. The rhythmic element is very important to him and he utilizes various pulse units as well as drifting downbeats. Musically complex and an electronic classic, this CD consistently provides the listener with new experiences each time it is heard.

Originally released in 1985, this was the former Kraftwerk,Neu! and Harmonia member's sixth solo CD. Best described as melodic ambient, with the two best tracks being the thirteen minute "Tiefenschärfe" which could be discribed as one of the earliest trance pieces ever and "Glitzerglanz"(nice keyboard work),plus the two '94 added bonus cuts aren't bad either.

Michael composes in a more traditional musical style. With guitars, saxophones, flutes, and fiddles, there is a playful musical energy at work here. But you can still hear the Serge Modular inbetween the other instruments. Mostly nice tunes.

All of his Virgin single promo films are included on the package along with the very rare 2nd House BBC TV performance of "Tubular Bells Part 1", which featured Steve Hillage and Mick Taylor amongst others. The bonus material includes "Wind Chimes" which is the virtual reality video album of the "Islands LP" featuring the tracks "The Wind Chimes", "North Point", "Islands", "The Time Has Come", "Flying Star"t and "Magic Touch". "Space Movie" shows "Incantations Part 1" set to archive footage of N.A.S.A. and Soviet rocket flights. Also included is the original EPK for the first edition of CD best of "Elements".

Artist: Mind Over Matter

With a 22-minute, five-part opener that sounds in parts like Michael Shrieve's "Transfer Station Blue," and symphonic rock elements that recall Jarre, Vangelis and other contemporary composers, the group known as Mind over Matter have found a potent formula to bring their musical influences to life. A "Bolero"-like riff is heard on "Pilgrims of Eternity," again with rock motifs readily at hand.
Mind over Matter is the brainchild of Klaus Hoffman-Hoock, who plays crystalline guitar and all the instruments besides the guest appearances by Patrick Kosmos and a few others. There are Tibetan elements like those used by David Parsons, as well as song titles derivative of the "top of the world," and some spacey tracks that are closer to earlier releases from Mind over Matter.
