Jon and Vangelis - Page of Life

Artist: Jon and Vangelis
P: 1991 / 1998
No matter how you package this incredible album, it will always shine. This has a few perks that the original does not have, such as Change We Must and a great 5 minute Vangelis intro to Wisdom Chain. Wisdom Chain runs almost 5 minutes longer than the version on the Arista. It is a must for all completists, but if you are only getting one Page of Life, you need the import version which has 4 other incredible songs strangely not on the American release. Vangelis himself was very upset that this version was ever released. Some of the songs were remixed and do sound different from the originals, but, to be fair to Jon Anderson, it still is a masterpiece of an album. The song Page of Life must be one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Change We must and Garden of Senses are so inspirational and uplifting. It is hard to listen to this album and not feel more relaxed and inspired. I suggest buying both versions, you really can't lose. You here bits of music missing or hidden from the original release and Andersons voice is much clearer. My advice is to buy both discs, create a new CD - for personal use of course - with all the tracks from this release and the additional tracks from the original release. You then have a stunning 64 minute Jon and Vangelis Release which includes the wonderful 'Change We Must'....Enjoy..

Jon Palmer - The Source

Artist: Jon Palmer
P: 1987 - 89 /1998

"All is at peace as the mind is gently stimulated into visions of Eden. ...Great use is made of space leaving the imagination to fill in the detail. ...the tapestry of sound pulsating and ever drifting in a very delicate way. It is as if there is a breeze causing very faint undulations over a pond which the slightest disturbance would wreck. 'Cat Songs...' rounds off the album with very strange processed sounds... ...It lasts for just over a minute but maintains the ominous, eerie feeling that permeates the whole album."
From a review by David Law (Neu Harmony)

A compilation of Ambient/Meditational pieces from Jon's early releases, "A Wheel of Stars" and "Cat Songs to an Ancient Moon". The music has been digitally cleaned up and enhanced by Ian Boddy, one of the UK's most respected composers.

Jonn Serrie - And the Stars go with you

Artist: Jonn Serrie
P: 1988

Jonn Serrie had already been composing music for planetarium shows for years, but the decision to begin recording albums changed his career. And The Stars Go With You was his first, originally released back in 1987, and it revolutionized the 'space music' trend and skyrocketed Serrie into ENA superstardom (that is, if he hadn't done so already). Now the album has only been made better with the addition of "And With You 2," a track that was obviously left off of the original printing, but is now, in my opinion, one of the best songs.
Serrie's is music you can just put on, lay back, and relax to. Let your mind go blank and get lost in the soundscapes. Play it all alone on a quiet night to get in the mood. Let moments like the gentle percussion on the second half of the titled track or the harmonies of songs like "And With You 2" and "Stratos" carry you away.
Some of the songs even sound like two or three-act musical dramas. Take "Fantasy Passages" for example. When this track begins, you can imagine yourself floating around lost helplessly in the darkest areas of space. When the music is occasionally broken up by deep, loud, rolling thunderous effects, after which the music slowly creeps back in, you can imagine falling into a black hole, then falling back out into the endless abyss (ok, I know it's not logical to fall out of a black hole, but you get the idea). Finally, as the song begins perhaps to lighten up a bit, with an echoing synth riff that repeats over and over again for the rest of the song, you can imagine your resolution - floating into the brighter areas of the universe, into places you know.

Jonn Serrie - Flightpath

Artist: Jonn Serrie
P: 1989

This is one of Serrie's masterpieces. In particular "Muroc", "Deep Spaceship", and "Glyder".
These songs are extremely relaxing songs which are great for meditation too, and for removing stress from one's life. Unlike Serrie's earlier work, this music has a more daytime ambiance to it.
After the incredible success of "...Stars Go With You", this second outing by Serrie continues to demonstrate his mastery of space music - this time a little closer to Earth as we get a piece of stratosphere.
This is not a single-minded concept like "Stars", we journey into other atmospheric environments prior to the departure into outer space. After the CD clears some banal compositions (the title track and "Sky Safari" [a fusion piece relating the then cliche rain forest music and the sky, I surmise] the flightpath takes us to Muroc - strikingly peaceful and beautiful moments which should not be overlooked by anyone who enjoys good music.
The space music on the second portion of the album, anchored by the cosmic titan "Deep Starship" (cast adrift alone in space for the rest of eternity), is on par with any of Serrie's spacemanship to date.
In total, this 1989 work is magnificent and worthy of the highest accolades.

Jonn Serrie - Planetary Chronicles Vol. 1

Artist: Jonn Serrie
P: 1992

A terrific work that is worthy of the very best of the "deep space probes" of radio programs such as "Hearts of Space". Mr. Serrie delivers exactly what those who sit in their deck hammock on a cool night desire; a rich audio companion to the lights of the firmament.

Jörg Schaaf - Sonar Experience

Artist: Jörg Schaaf
P: 1999
Sonar Experience  is Jörg Schaaf's most personal CD production to date.
After CDs and concerts with the German synthesiser pioneer, Klaus Schulze, he laid the foundation for his own successful solo career. Jörg Schaaf worked for over a year on this solo CD, and the result is an audio adventure that will fascinate the listener again and again. The basic moody and mysterious feeling of the 13 tracks is overlaid with lyrical melodies, ecstatic grooves and hypnotic synthesiser sound-structures.

Kagermann, Keller + Schönwälder - Liquid Session

Artist: Kagermann, Keller, Schönwälder & Friends
P: 2005

At Liquid Sound Festival 2003 Bas Broekhuis, Thomas Kagermann, Detlef Keller, Chris Lang, Andrea Saphira, Mario Schönwälder and Gerd Wienekamp played an outstanding space & ambient music session. Now you can listen to this session on a limited edition.
This release from 2005 offers 56 minutes of calming electronic music recorded live at the Liquid Sound Festival at the Toskana Therme, Bad Sulza on November 8, 2003. Mario Schönwälder, Detlef Keller (both on synths) and Thomas Kagerman (on violin) are joined by “friends”: Bas Broekhuis (on percussion), Gerd Wienekamp (from Rainbow Serpent) and Chris Lang (both on synths), and Andrea Saphira Leonhardi (on ethereal voice).
Employing gradually building strains in an improvisational milieu, the performers generate a distinguished dose of soothing sonics that steadfastly mounts in density and passion. Languid textures coalesce while percussion lurks with subtle presence. Violin drones enter the mix, flavoring the tuneage with a classical edge and injecting a romantic flair with melancholy definition. Vocal intonations enter with the beginning of the second of the three long tracks. The violin adopts a more pensive mood as the sonic flow continues. A particularly fluid sound flourishes while the percussion takes a break. Crystalline chimes season the liquid progression. As the piece reaches its conclusion, the percussion reemerges with slow beats, foreshadowing a transition to an even sparser soundscape. The final track maintains this serenity for a long time, while the violin meanders through the flow like an enraptured gypsy. The piece gains an increasing but restrained tension as the performers forge an enduring covenant of tranquil vigor.
