Ron Boots + Others - Joie De Vivre

Artist: Ron Boots
P: 1999

This is our third official live release and it gives an impression of the music we play as specials and encore pieces. In other words: This is all new music. You don't hear any familiar pieces from other CDs. That makes this CD unique, with music that was played once and will never be heard in this form again.
For us musicians this is the greatest way to perform; not being limited to studio versions, it gives us a feeling of freedom on stage and it certainly increases the amount of adrenalin in our vains during the performance.
Some mishaps are inevitable and also remember that NO overdubs or after-editing is done other then making it as good sounding as possible. The audience you hear are the people who came to CEOS 1999 in Cologne. I decided to let them in for the atmosphere and edit them in after Harolds drumsolo in Freewave.
Have fun listening and remember... Live recordings should be played LOUD! Never mind the neighbours, you can blame it on me.

Ron Boots + Others - By Popular Demand

Artist: Ron Boots & Others
P: 1993/ 1999

"By Popular Demand" is a CD of live performances by Ron Boots, Eric van der Heijden and friends.
The friends are Gerald Vos, Harold van der Heijden, Ad van Gerwen, Bas Broekhuis, Ingrid Lohuis and Klaus Hoffman Hoock.
Some of the selections feature Ron's penchant for live synth trios, others feature synth duets and percussion. The highlight is the cosmic and ethereal "Through Mental Doors." That piece features narration by Louise, Harold's masterful drumming, a synth trio of Ron, Eric and Ad and Ad and Ron on didjeridu!  It is one of the wildest outer space rides imaginable! The massive soundscape is carried by some wild sci-fi manipulations and some overblown sequences. Ron's didg drone sets it up and a synth drone takes it home. The whole album sparkles with energy and giddy zeal. This is a classic example of live electronica and its intention - fun and entertainment!
20bit remastered version of "By Popular Demand" from 1993. It contains material from several live performances.
Released in April 1999.

Ron Boots + Synth.NL - Borkhavn

Artist: Ron Boots + Synth.NL
P: 2020

This is our second album together and just like our first album from 2010 called ‘Refuge en Verre’ we recorded this music during a family holiday. This time we spend a whole week with our families in Bork Havn in Denmark. During the day we spend time with our families and in the evening we improvised in the temporary studio we build in a corner of the holiday house. We didn’t really prepare anything in advance so all music was recorded from live improvisation sessions during that week.
The music was recorded in 2012, but due to personal circumstances we didn’t get around to finishing the album. But we both still had the desire to release it because we think the music we created there was special. So in 2020 we listened to the music again and selected the pieces we liked the most and decided we had to release it for you to enjoy. We both (Michel a bit more then me (Ron) started working individually on the tracks in our own studios and in the end we worked in Ron’s studio to finalize the end mix and the mastering.
The album again is a symbol of our friendship. We met in 2006 during a Synthesizer Meeting organized by the Dutch ‘Synth Forum’ were we started talking about synthesizers and found out we shared the same fascinations. As a result Michel signed up as Synth.NL in 2007 with Groove Unlimited. We became good friends after that, and we visit each other on a regular basis. Not only to for music but also to enjoy a good meal or just a good talk.
The album is called ‘BorkHavn‘ simply because that is were the music was recorded. The tracks were inspired by the events we experienced during the day. Sometimes it was the beautiful nature we enjoyed sometimes just the feeling of the moment.
We hope you will enjoy this album. At least we had a great time creating the music and working on this album 8 years after recording it. It brought back good memories and only made our friendship stronger.

Ron Boots + Synth.NL - Refuge en Verre

Artist: Ron Boots + Synth.NL
P: 2010

A very good combination out of the two dutch Synthesizer musicians. The style is melodic, rhythmic and with a lot of sequences.
This is our very first album together and it has a very nice story to it. We first met at a Synthesizer Meeting organized by the Dutch 'Synth Forum' in 2006. There we started talking about synthesizers and synthesizer music and found out that we shared the same fascinations. As a result Michel signed up as Synth.nl in 2007 with Groove.
We worked a lot in the studio together after that remixing and mastering. Since then we have become very good friends and we visit each other on regular basis. Also our wives, kids and even the dogs like each other. In 2010 our wives decided to rent a house together in the Belgian Ardennes for a weekend. We both brought a synthesizer and a laptop and tried to make music together for the first time and that went very well actually. We recorded quite some tracks there. After the weekend we decided that we should release this music on CD.
So we started on finishing the music together when we got back in our own studios. The result is this album called 'Refuge en Verre', which was the name of the house we rented. We got the inspiration for the music we played from the beautiful nature in the Belgian Ardennes and the nice time we had with our families over there. Most of the tracks were played live as improvisations in the temporary studio that we created in the rented house.

Ron Boots - Acoustic Shadows

Artist: Ron Boots
P: 2006

No, Ron Boots, Holland’s leading electronic musician, has not created an acoustic album. An “acoustic shadow” is a phenomenon whereby a sound, such as the “thunder” of artillery during a battle, can be clearly heard far in this distance and yet be unheard by observers closer to the battle. For “Acoustic Shadows” Ron let himself be inspired by the war periods and the reasons for them. It struck Ron that there is never a good or sensible reason to start a war. “Acoustic Shadows” is a tribute to the soldiers that died in numerous useless battles.
It is almost three years ago since Ron has made his last solo-album “Area Movement” but it has been worthwhile waiting. “Acoustic Shadows” can be regarded as one of his best records. Ron’s sound is, as always, rich and full of details. Every time you hear this music, you hear new things.
The almost symphonic “The Unknown Soldier” opens the cd. It reminds of his masterpiece “Tainted Bare Skin”.
The tracks on “Acoustic Shadows” are accompanied with voices that tell stories about wars.
“The Battle Of The Somme” is one of the best pieces Ron had ever created. The sequences are absolutely great. After the somewhat atmospheric title track, Ron pumps things up somewhat on “Assault”.
“Desolate Fields” fits its title because it is a little dark and slow composition.
“Dresden” ends the six pieces on the album in a typical “Ron Boots-way”.
With “Acoustic Shadows” Ron has proven again to be one of the best electronic musicians of today.
