After 3 years of concerts, turmoil, organizing festivals, running Groove, loosing friends, dumping baggage, Blackmail, a new (same) job, travels and a world that is spinning out of control their just was no energy to create a new album.
The concerts where a great inspiration in these years and together with Monique, my kids (Sam, Dylan, Sanne and Romeo (grandson) and my friends and fellow musicians that are dear to me made it all worth while! It made all the sad, bad and some BIG!! disappointments less influential in my life!

And here it is, ONCE THE DUST SETTLES. The backbone of this album is the concert I played this year in Brussels during the Cosmic Night festival. Johan Geens, Mark de Wit where the partners in crime and the organizers and playing there in that planetarium was a dream come true! One track, A Sense of Turmoil - [7:49] is a completely reworked track from Signs in the Sand. One of my favorite live tracks to play because it works with the big live set up (Stevo, Harold and Francky) but also in the intimate setting of the Brussels performance. The album is again a tribute to the Berlin School way of Electronic music. Sequencing at my best I would say. I hope it will find its way to you and to your heart.

This album presents a new style in Ron's music; a little less accessible this time but still his typical soundscapes and outstanding sequencers capture this great feeling that made his music stand out years ago. This CD focuses on Ron's reputation as a major talent. He has been slowly carving out a niche as one of Europe's strongest proponent's of "sequenced minimalism."  These adjectives seem to be diametrical if not downright mutually exclusive. Ron makes the concept work by softening his sequences and surrounding them with the gentle and playful minimalism for which he has gained some renown. While Alio Die and Vidna Obmana are still Europe's leading minimalists, Ron is certainly among the top European proponents of pastoral ambience!
This album is an essential example of optimistic minimalism from the Netherlands.

Ron Boots is a great fan of reading: science fiction, fantasy, historical or suspense: he reads it all. Actually, Ron has just too little time to read everything he buys. Time he also puts into making his music.
His last album “Acoustic Shadows” was inspired by history. See “Beyond Times - Look Beyond Words” is a continuation of this album but now Ron looks more into his favorite writers like Zelasny, Wren, King and -most of all- Tolkien and Vance.
To help him with this, his friends Gert Emmens, Harold van der Heijden, Henri Peters (on guitar), Paul Ellis en Frank Van Bogaert gave a hand. Ron is a master is mixing a diversity of electronic music styles: from Berliner Schule, melodically compositions, ambient atmospheres and rhythmically, danceable tracks. Ron doesn’t pin point on one particularly direction and that is one of his biggest talents.
Pieces like “Hour Of The Wolf”, opening with a Klaus Schulze-lile sequence and with a solo by Gert Emmens and the excellent “Boesllistian” (a collaboration with Paul Ellis) are nearly typically retro while “We Are Off” is very lively, a mix between dance and rock. “Radar” is a special piece. It was originally a piece for a dance written by Martijn Rijssen. Ron liked it so much, that he decided to re-work it and give it his “Ron Boots-sauce”. Henri Peters plays a fine guitar solo.
This all leads to an album that is very varying and that counts amongst the finest albums the best electronic musician from The Netherlands has made until now.

With "Tainted Bare Skin," Ron Boots has really outdone himself this time. The sequences are just a little crisper, the melodies a little better, the sounds and effects just a little cooler. If he raises the bar much higher, no one, including himself, will be able to reach it.
It offers an astonishing 70 minutes of very well composed complex compositions burning out of your speakers. Varied sounding sequences come together with nicely layered cosmic sound scapes and powerful rhythms, not to forget about the great bass lines underneath some of the compositions. Ron's most recent music sparkles of joy and fun in making music, almost invites the listener to come in and become part of this overwhelming one-man-show.
The superbly produced CD concludes with the almost rave-dance track "Dejection Cure", which nicely shows of Ron's exceptional side-step into this music-style.
All in all "Tainted Bare Skin" is a must-buy in many ways !

This CD was earlier released as CD-R. This is the normal release with the full version of 73.54 minutes. In addition to his regular music this CD contains over 70 minutes of perfectly produced, absolute astonishing ambient music of the finest quality. Ron's overwhelming soundscapes are intwined with whale sounds and a broad variety of enviRONmentals which all make for a journey, listeners won't easily forget.

The main music was recorded during my performance in the Byss Studio of Bas Broekhuis on the 28th of November 2020. When I listen to it at home I noticed I was alone. When you do an entire concert live without backing tracks or computer during the build up there are gaps that i feel needs to be filled. Thats is why I am seldom alone on stage in a complete live setting. I only have 2 hands, one brain and am not the virtuoso as some of our other musicians in our scene (or they think they are). So the Cd has the famous Tangenizing process, parts of the music have been added later to the original music. I never had problem with this from other artists as it makes for a better listening. In 99% of the cases it gets better. So I added parts (mind you live played!!).

Thanks to Bas Broekhuis who set up Byss as a media streaming service. Man it works!!

The last track from the original cassette "Swallows Passing" is on the CD "Odds & Ends" because it didn't fit on this CD.
All tracks are carefully cleaned and valvenized to bring the music to nowadays standard but with preservation of the original feeling.
No overdubs or additional music is added.
