Alpha Wave Movement

Alpha Wave Movement

Alpha Wave Movement (established 1992) is the electronic music project of Gregory T. Kyryluk. Alpha Wave Movement's musical style can be considered ambient, New Age, some space rock, and the classic 1970s period German style electronic music otherwise known as Berlin school and the ambient aesthetics of Brian Eno, and Steve Roach. Alpha Wave Movement's other projects include Thought Guild, Open Canvas and Kyryluk's solo releases.

Alpha Wave Movement - Transcendence

Artist: Alpha Wave Movement
P: 1996
The first full length cd of Alpha Wave Movement music. This is a amalgm of my music styles however the space/ambient side is most dominant. The CD contains some of my best music to date reminicent of older Berlin electronic music as well as hints of trance/techno. Although I will use techno as a basis for the description it really does not adhere totally to the style of music represented. There is too much equipment to mention although I will like readers to know the older Korg equipment dominates alot of the tracks.
Starting with the pulsing bass tones of “The Passage of Moments,” this is a wonderful opening track, light and airy with just the right melodic touches.
“Transcendences” features a cool bubbly sequence that pings back and forth hypnotically. Thumping bass and beats add interest but still keep things soft.
The repetitious electronic sounds of “Melting Boundaries” have mechanical precision but warmth as well.
“Terra Nocturna” floats slowly along with a touch of melancholy.
One of my favorites is the lively bouncy “Artifacts & Prophecies,” whose shuffling beat and catchy tune is the sort that stays in your head all day long.
The original disc closed with “Veil of the Twilight Moon,” an ethereal piece that seemed a perfect closing.

Alpha Wave Movement - Within Reason - Farshadow

Artist: Alpha Wave Movement
P: 2014
Charting his unique journey across the dub-techno matrix, Within Reason returns with his third and best album to date, bridging the categorical expanse between emotive texture and gravitational motion.

Within Reason is the nom de disque of Gregory Kyryluk, who also composes achingly original, folded-space music as Alpha Wave Movement. Processing aberrant, mutant strains of post-Augustus Pablo dub with the latest state-of-the-art dreadnought synthesis, Within Reason travels through boulevards adjunct to the Basic Channel/Chain Reaction contingent, ingeniously devising a highly unique take on the now well-worn ambientdubtechno soundgrid.

Alpha Wave Movement - Within Reason - Subtle Shift

Artist: Alpha Wave Movement
P: 2012 / 2014
Behind the project name of Within Reason is hidden noone else than Gregory Kyryluk, the sole creator of Alpha Wave Movement and Open Canvas, and also one half of Thought Guild with the late Christopher Cameron. Introducing here his debut work as Within Reason, Greg fires this magnetically mesmerizing performance with title piece, "Subtle Shift", which fuses harmonious ambient soundscapes with pulsing high-tech hypnotics, and is carefully fragranced by natural sounds and whispering voices. Stunning intro, a true medicine for my ears!!! The next one, "Memory Filament", is a subtle, uplifting texture crossed with dub techno elements, freshly beating and soaring above listener's head and reaching perfect symmetry between luminous soundworlds and hypnotizing pulses. "Bodhi" presents colorful and joyous tapestry of moods and sounds with Middle East-fragranced chants thrown in here and there. It will appeal to anyone looking for an adventure in sound sculpting. "Grey Area" strikes immediately with its slowly growing, heartbeating groovy atmosphere. Various high-tech electrifying sounds stunningly enrich this ultimate "Hall Of Fame" composition. Transporting experience awaits!!! But virtuoso performance keeps on going, "Carbon Interface" is as much phenomenal as its predecessor. Highly evocative washes with crystalline razor-sharp cyber effects shift this composition into magnificently uncharted realms. This is a true celebration of sonic synergy between human bravura and state-of-the-art technology!!! Warmly pulsing "Nimbus" is hauntingly colored with pleasant hisses and creates melodic delicacy with magical aura. "Liquid Language" jumps into more active space carefully bridging trance-inducing soundscapes with funky-like rhythms and hints of didgeridoo and voice samples in Czech language...:-) The closing piece, "Deeper Below", immediately starts as its title suggests, but then it glides smoothly through mid-paced cinematic cyber terrains. "Subtle Shift" is sensational, vibrant and immersing hypermodern masterpiece, all-inclusive with audiophile-quality sound, showcasing undisputable creativity and musicality of its creator.

Biome (Alpha Wave Movement) - Essence

Artist: Alpha Wave Movement
P: 2021
Sonic tapestries carved out of sound and circuitry tapping deep into the emotive hinterlands far distant from the cold bastions of our concrete and steel enclave's. Subdued synthetic textures encapsulated environmental meanderings coerce one another within subtle rhythmic oscillations. A mention of the name Gregory Kyryluk will usually conjure thoughts of the Alpha Wave Movement style of ambient and rhythmic electronic music. However, with the release of the sophomore album Essence, Biome is set to become a firm favorite in the field of ambient electronic music. From the very start, Essence creates an atmosphere of floating weightless in space, with electronic string-like sounds creating an environment to enable sparkling streaks to appear and then disappear. Some gentle bell-like sounds will appear at times, tantalizingly close to creating a rhythmic backdrop of sequencing, but never taking full hold of the situation and releasing at just the right time for some atmospheric chords to re-establish their ambient dominance.
