Various Artists - Ricochet Gathering Keep On

Artists: V/A
P: 2010
LTD 1000

The story leading to the creation of this music goes back to 1983, when the group Tangerine Dream produced the soundtrack for Michael Mann's film The Keep, a film taking place in Romania. The music from The Keep has maintained cult status and the soundtrack eluded the general public. So, 25 years later, at the 9th Ricochet Gathering EM event, the concept was presented to compose a new interpretation of this soundtrack, in celebration of its Silver Anniversary.
The location selected was an old manor in a small village in Transylvania. The RG musicians were provided with The Keep Cues soundtrack music to study and gain inspiration and on 11 November 2008, many live & improvised performances were recorded and a selection was chosen for the first two tracks of this release.
The last track was recorded live by native Romanian Indra in 1994 and also captured the mood of The Keep sound.
I hope this music is special to you in some way.

Various Artists - Dreams of my Space

Artist: Various Artists
P: 2008

Someone who believes that one can find the best electronic music only on already published CDs, might perhaps be proved wrong. Maybe you have not noticed the many artists without record contract, presenting their music on the Internet, especially on MySpace.com. Here you can find several undiscovered talents presenting themselves with often amazingly good music. Sometimes, even in comparison to professional releases, you can find extraordinary good music, which is worth-while to be published and also worth-while to be supported to gain much more attention. Motivated by this point of view, the idea for a compilation series with international artists of the EM came into being. On the first CD DREAMS OF MY SPACE - Vol.1 artists from Denmark, Finland, France, Spain, Australia and Germany are presented. Endowed and undiscovered talents who create these soundsculptures, which shift us into most pleasing and magic moods that were played with synthesizers, computers and electronics. "Thanx For The Add" is an idiom on MySpace.com which is a kind of "thank you message" for the admission as a friend. ROBERT SCHROEDER, the producer of the compilation, also says "Thanx For The Add" to the artists, because their co-operation made these marvelously spherical and relaxing CD possible at all.The Frenchman KRISTALIUM is one of the highlights and surely should have a promising future. He creates simple, bizarre soundscapes with clear, simple and accessible melodies - earworms. However McCartnoTron from Germany reminds one rather of KRAFTWERK and his song "Unterseeboot" (submarine) is a new and interesting kind of vocoder music. Guido Negraszus lives in Australia and is represented with two tracks on that CD. Fantastic guitar melodies are combined with clearly structured basics, simply doing good in a beautiful sound, one comes into momentum, drifting into far-away thoughts. As a bonus track, the title "Kopenhaachen" from Nattefrost is added. The track is a co-production of Björn Jeppesen and Robert Schroeder, the only artists on the CD which already own a contract with a record company.

Various Artists - Echoes Living Room Concerts Volume 8

Artist: Rich, Ciani, Waveworld...
P: 2002
Among the highlights of Volume 8 are performances by Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, and pianists Philip Aaberg and Suzanne Ciani. We hear the Dutch synthesizer trio Wave World taking a trip into space and a gamelan meditation by Shaman's Dream. There's a gentle Celtic aire by Solas and a lap steel guitar expanse from Robert Rich. World fusion ranges from Lumin to Ancient Future as well as Celtic harpist Lisa Lynne with the Persian Lian Ensemble. You'll hear the first harpsichord ever to be played live on Echoes with Richard Searles and a rare trio of guitarist David Cullen, oboist Jill Haley and bassist Michael Manring. The Echoes LRC 8 takes you to living rooms from Los Angeles to Philadelphia. Suzanne Ciani was recorded on the shores of Marin County and Wave World recorded on the floor of the Echoes living room.

Various Artists - Analogy Volume 1

Artist:
P: 2006
There is always much to do amongst musicians and/or fans of em about analog or digital? Will we use the warmth of analog or the more reliability but less character of digital? This album has become a sort of contest where each artist could use only three genuine analog synthesizers to create a piece of music (although modern recording techniques were permitted).
"Analogy, volume1" contains music by some of the finest em-musicians of today.
The music ranges from traditional sequencer-based berlin school (create, syn, altres, modulator esp), via melodical (remotion, emmens, aerts, tescee), ambient (ellis and roach, 4m33s) to experimental (nerell, roach and oken, storey).
All music was played and recorded with care and love for the music and the instruments that it’s played on. "Analogy, volume1" is a great and eagerly awaited project.

Various Artists - Analogy Volume 2

P: 2006

Featured here are exclusive tracks by:
Rogue Element: watery and pensive with dreamy textures laced with chirping birds.
Francois-pol Cornec: energetic melody with bouncy keys and sweeping tonalities. 4m33s: a moody approximation of a sunrise streaming across an alien landscape.
Gert Emmens & Ruud Heij: surging chords flavored with celestial atmospherics that accretes notable vigor of high appeal.
Russell Storey: part one of a spacey excursion with dramatic disposition.
James J. Clent: mounting electronic cycles spiced with astral guitar.
Craig Padilla: an ambient intro plunges into high energy terrain with hyperactive loops and twinkling quasi-rhythms.
Kees Aerts: a determined electronic riff is enlivened with sinuous e-perc and fanciful effects.
Zen Paradox: eastern influences tweak an environment of erratic beats and a rising surf of lush textures.
Stephen Parsick (from 'Ramp): a spooky dose of ricocheting effects amid a nebulous fog of haunting demeanor that escalates into a dense tapestry of rewarding sonics.
Create: a heavenly excursion into moody layers and growling electronics.
Altres: acoustic guitar accompanied by congenial synth riffs and mirthful embellishments.
Russell Storey: part two of the prior piece, in which things take a darker turn with eerie results.
Remotion: lavish keys swim in a sparkling pool agitated by churning non-impact rhythms.
Remy: portentous textures ascend with majesty and are seasoned with pulsing tones and glistening effects.
EM2: carefree cycles become dominated by more resonant riffs with gentle e-perc nibbling at the edges.
Ron Boots: a monumental finale as dense tones fuse with masterful riffs of growing vigor, rising to a coda of shrill eruptions.
Again, the musicians demonstrate inventive applications of analog technology coupled with diversity and satisfying acumen. Standout contributions from Parsick and Boots.

Various Artists - Analogy Volume 3

Artist:
P: 2007

This CD from 2007 features 79 minutes of diverse electronic music.
The theme of this anthology is that all the equipment used to create the music be of an analog nature.
You get:
Gert Emmens and James Clent: a tasty blend of deep gurgling and stratospheric airs serving as a foundation for a fanciful melody.
Create: a pensive piece that seasons cybernetic brooding with delicate filigrees.
Stephen Parsick (from ‘Ramp): dark ambience that delves into celestial depths with moody results.
Gert Blokzijl: loops ascend with lighthearted vigor to expand their circumference into realms of bubbling zest.
Russell Storey: a brief excursion into cosmic territory.
Synth.nl: a windswept journey into contemplation that slides into a peppier selection of bouncy chords and languid bass sweeps.
Francois-pol Cornec: electronic bubbles punctuate a bouncy melody drenched in rich tones that erupts with shrill dynamics.
Erwin Hofstede: atmospheric textures sway across a sparse panorama.
James J. Clent: a peppy piece with resounding clatter and serpentine riffs sliding through a vivacious mix.
Another track by Russell Storey: that expands on the previous cosmic journey with subtle determination.
Terje Winther: an energetic track that increases the heartbeat with lively chords racing to expose further surprises.
Studio35d: a chugging melody struggles to escape the clutches of a pensive mood.
Schonwalder’s Filterkaffe (being Mario Schonwalder and Frank Rothe): locomotive chords flow through a series of dramatic augmentations en route to an emphatic crescendo.
Eric G: urgency drives this frenetic tune.
Rene van der Wouden: a celebratory track with a bouncy central theme seasoned by gurgling embellishments.
Mono-Poly: a brooding atonal piece of grinding gears and muttering radio signals.
Ron Boots: a slowburn escalation heading faithfully for emphatic altitudes with a poignant finale.
On one hand, you get a worthwhile selection of exclusive tracks by notable musicians. On the other hand, you get glimpses at the works of a variety of promising newcomers.
A well-rounded and rewarding collection
