Aero is a double CD format, a DVD (ntsc/Region 0) and CD in one package. The DVD is recorded in 5.1 DTS, Dolby AC3 and PCM 9624 KHz Stereo and the CD is recorded in Super Stereo. There is an optional visual element on the DVD format, which offers an unusual visual experience. A pair of beautiful eyes, shot in high-definition cinemascope, gazing out at the listener and reacting emotionally to the music...for the entire 75 minutes of the album.  AERO is one of the most impressive efforts a human being has made in exploring the possibilities of sound and music. It would be worth it to invest in a nice DTS surround system with a DVD player that supports PAL formated discs before butchering this album for not living up to standards.
Now for the audio: It is as advertised; no other album has the ability to immerse in the sound quite like this DVD does. Five speakers are used to give you depth and perspective versus the usual two; so music revolves around you and moves back and forth from speaker to speaker. Imagine seeing Star Wars in the theatre; so if a space ship flies overhead on the screen you hear the sound come from the back of the theatre and move to the front (where you are looking/the screen). This album takes that concept and applies it to music. That's the jist of it. Chronologie 6 sounds unbelievable; so do the new Aerology/Aerozone tracks and all the other works.
This is a new direction in sound; Let's commend Jarre for doing this.

In late 1996 the album Perry Rhodan - Pax Terra was released, featuring a number of compositions based on the Perry Rhodan book series -- a musical hommage to celebrate the 35th anniversary of this German science fiction series that is issued week for week since 1961. With the exception of some vocal parts, sung by Rick Jude and Miko, most of the album is instrumental, stylistically somewhat similar to the material Chris Franke composed for the Babylon 5 series during the same time -- in fact, Perry Rhodan - Pax Terra could easily be the soundtrack to an unproduced movie.

Chip Meditation was one of Software's most successful IC albums in the 80s. Peter Mergener was primarily responsible for the music at the time and is now celebrating the 40th anniversary of a cult album that set standards in the electronic music scene with Chip Meditation 2025.
Music to dream to. That's what electronic music listeners associate with Chip Meditation.
On Chip Meditation 2025, the Software-typical sequences (trademark!) bubble out of the choir sounds, intertwining with warm pads and building up to a successful Berlin School track. The sounds develop fluidly, with occasional effects and touches of color reminiscent of Klaus Schulze or Tangerine Dream, gaining depth through the pad sounds.
Peter Mergener thus knows how to perfectly showcase these traditional Berlin School style elements in a contemporary, full-bodied sound, creating an atmosphere where you can "bathe" like in the old days.
Fans have had to wait a long time for Peter to revive the "old days."
