Jolliffe, Steve

Jolliffe, Steve

Born in England on 28th April 1949, Steve Jolliffe has been an active composer for forty years. His extraordinary career started in 1967, when he met Rick Davies and formed a group called The Joint, which evolved into Supertramp. Jolliffe's interest in classical music led him to the "Berlin High School for Music" in 1968. He was the first student to be accepted who could not read music. While at the school, he met Edgar Froese, and together with Klaus Schulze toured Germany for a year as one of the earliest incarnations of Tangerine Dream. Steve left Tangerine Dream. Steve rejoined Tangerine Dream in 1978 and together with Froese, Christopher Franke and Klaus Krüger, recorded the album Cyclone. The quartet toured Europe that year.

Steve Jolliffe - Journeys out of the Body

Artist: Steve Jolliffe
P: 2010
Limited edition with autograph by Steve.
Journeys Out of the Body is a set of deep atmospheres from Steve Jolliffe. Composed and created after a series of experiences that extended his awareness of other realities, Jolliffe had several out-of-body dreams in 1981 that he describes as being "half awake" and that energized his creativity and enhanced his artistic performances. The music on this CD confirms those statements. The soundscapes are smooth and dreamy with expansive atmospheres and organic textures. Jolliffe enhances his electronics with smooth acoustics from flutes and guitars. His saxophone is forgettable, but does not detract from the quality of this release. It will appeal to fans of John Flomer, Kevin Braheny, and Jon Jenkins.

Two long tracks, that never get boring. Moods and sounds are always changing. Sometimes pure Ambient ( light and dark), then suddenly a rhythm strikes in. Very interesting soundtrack like music by Jolliffe.
