Gandalf

Gandalf can be called a "PAINTER OF MUSICAL LANDSCAPES", he is a composer, musician and producer of meanwhile numerous album releases. His name originated from J.R.R.TOLKIEN´s cult-epic "THE LORD OF THE RINGS".
GANDALF plays a great variety of instruments (acoustic and electric guitars, sitar, saz, charango, bouzuki, balaphon, piano, synthesizers & sample-keyboards and various percussion) and blends acoustic with electronic and spheric sounds, weaves folk-elements into symphonic structures, creating his unmistakable unique style that made him become one of todays internationally most successful Austrian musicians.

Gandalf - Sacred River

Artist: Gandalf
P: 2006/ 2009
A superb album. The ten compositions in it included have an outstanding emotional beauty. "Sacred River" is very much inspired on nature, specially on the Yamuna (one of India's holy rivers), thus evoking a journey throughout a stream that passes immense virgin spaces. Gandalf combines dreamy melodies of great strength, with ethereal environments, outlining an enchanting sonic landscape of a mystic-romantic character. Skillfuly utilizing acoustic and electronic instrumental sounds, he creates a pleasant and very orchestral music, where the keyboards, the guitar and the fine arrangements have a fundamental presence.

Gandalf - The Stones of Wisdom

Artist: Gandalf
P: 1992 / 2013
The album was created as a sort of soundtrack to the book "The Stones of Wisdom" of the Austro-Irish author Ronald P.Vaughan. The story is about a period more than 4000 years ago. To get inspired, Gandalf, who always felt a strong affinity for Celtic Music, was wandering on traces of ancient civilizations and visited mystical stone-sites and old places of worship in southwest England. The music is based on wooden flutes and drums, to be joined by guitar, harp and piano in phases. Electronics moved rather into the background, the rhythm follows the beating of the heart and the breath of nature.

Gandalf - The Universal Play

Artist: Gandalf
P: 1987
This one is rather different from the former albums of the great master Gandalf. Where the last one "Tale From A Long Forgotten Kingdom" is very melodic and nice to sink in to, this one is harder and takes more time to appreciate. The music is very floating, sometimes even minimalistic. It's comparable with Mike Oldfield's "The Songs Form Distant Earth". All tracks are based on a repeating melody with beatiful sounds that change or are added. This album is very electronic and is everything the cover seems to say: spacey! Very nice to put on your headphones and let the magician take you away into space!
