In the realm of gentle, long-form sequencer-driven music Thom Brennan is almost without peer. Of the three albums he has released in 2020 this is by far my favorite and ranks among his best. And unlike the great Klaus Schulze, Brennan doesn’t take 15 minutes to set the mood, but seduces us immediately with springy rhythms that create an elegant sonic tapestry reminiscent of Michael Hoenig’s late-70s masterpiece, DEPARTURE FROM THE NORTHERN WASTELAND.
