Bridge To Eternity features two tracks from the Perry Rhodan - Pax Terra album (that is, both version of Bridge To Eternity) on a special shaped CD. In late 1996 the album Perry Rhodan - Pax Terra was released, featuring a number of compositions based on the Perry Rhodan book series -- a musical hommage to celebrate the 35th anniversary of this German science fiction series that is issued week for week since 1961. With the exception of some vocal parts, sung by Rick Jude and Miko, most of the album is instrumental, stylistically somewhat similar to the material Chris Franke composed for the Babylon 5 series during the same time -- in fact, Perry Rhodan - Pax Terra could easily be the soundtrack to an unproduced movie. Since leaving Tangerine Dream, Christopher Franke has been known mostly for his soundtracks. Composers for film are limited with what they can do (indeed, many of Franke's other soundtracks, while possessing some fine music, often sound dis-jointed and out of place), but "Perry Rhodan : pax terra" is a "musical reflection" on series of science fiction books, not a true soundrack. This gives Franke the freedom to build themes, and play with them as long as he wants, since he isn't trying to match a piece of film, but more of a feeling. Again accompanied by The Berlin Symphonic Film Orchestra this is everything you would expect having heard his other solo works. Wordless choruses, lots of percussion, triumphant themes, poignant piano, as well as samples of "Dominion" from the old TD days. When you hear the guitars, you can be sure singing isn't far behind. There are 2 vocal tracks (the first is repeated as a single at the end of the album) and they sound much like the vocal track from Franke's "Tenchi - the Movie" soundtrack. Kind of corny, but catchy in their own way. If you like Franke's solo works, it's a pretty good bet you'll like this.
