Bioscope (Rothery + Quaeschning) - Gento (CD + Blu Ray)
Artist: Steve Rothery + Thorsten Quaeschning
P: 2025
Bioscope is the highly anticipated collaborative project from guitar maestro Steve Rothery, founding member of Marillion, who has sold millions of albums worldwide and helped define the sound of progressive rock with chart-topping records — and from electronic visionary Thorsten Quaeschning, musical director of Tangerine Dream, credited on over 100 album releases and known for his acclaimed work on major film and game soundtracks. The word ‘Bioscope’ comes from the Greek ‘bios’ meaning life and ‘skopeein’ meaning to look; prior to the invention of cinema, it meant ‘a view or survey of life’. And that’s what Bioscope is about. The first album to emerge from this project is called Gentō, named after the Japanese term for “magic lantern”, a still-image projection system. It started life in early 2020 and after several five-day trips to Berlin over the years, and a few days in Steve Rothery’s home studio, it was finally ready to be mixed and mastered. Each of the five instrumental tracks takes it’s inspiration from man's endearing fascination with the moving image. They weave together Rothery’s emotive, melodic guitar work with Quaeschning’s expansive soundscapes, creating a mesmerizing journey through light and darkness, memory and imagination, featuring an amazing performance by Elbow’s drummer Alex Reeves. With soaring guitar solos that evoke classic progressive rock to hypnotic sequencer-driven passages reminiscent of Berlin School electronica, the album flows like a soundtrack to an unmade film.
Each of the five instrumental tracks is inspired by man's fascination with the moving image. The music ranges from impressive guitar sounds reminiscent of classic progressive rock to rhythmic sequencer passages in the style of the Berlin School. The CD+Blu-ray digipack contains the complete album on CD as well as high-resolution audio formats on Blu-ray:
- Full album with visuals in PCM Stereo, Dolby Atmos and 5.1 (48kHz / 24bit)

Tangerine Dream + Brain May (Queen) - Starmus - Sonic Universe DVD
Artist: Tangerine Dream & Brian May (Queen)
P: 2016

Finally we are proud to announce the eagerly-awaited DVD production of STARMUS – SONIC UNIVERSE, a release of the sensational musical collaboration between two legendary names: Brian May and Tangerine Dream. Brian May had been for decades the great guitar player, arranger and co-singer with one of the greatest rock bands of all time: QUEEN. Tangerine Dream came from a complete different angel of the musical world.
Being the first band ever using Moog sequencer rhythm live on stage, being called the early masterminds of ambient sound and highly acclaimed Hollywood film composers for many years, Tangerine Dream have set more than one landmark in musical history. Now here is the result of a very unusual concert of the two legends at the Starmus Festival on the Island of Tenerife. In June 2011 this festival was held in the honor of the 50th Anniversary of Juri Gagarin’s first spaceflight. Among the guests you could witness Neil Armstrong (first man on the moon) in one of his last public appearances and Buzz Aldrin (second man on the moon), Alexei Leonow - first man stepping out of his capsule into space, Jim Lovell and many more. The first track of the DVD - SUPERNOVA - integrates ORIGINAL, REAL STAR SOUNDS – something very special. Prof. Garik Israelian, astrophysicist and founder of the STARMUS FESTIVAL captured these unique sounds. Can you imagine how the sun sounds in space? Get an idea of this sound when listening to SUPERNOVA. Enjoy with this release the highlights of TD’s musical career in combination with Brian May’s unique guitar. Dedicated to Edgar.
