Although the music dates to 1994, this is as crisp as any music recorded yesterday. It shows Yanni's love for 'classical' music, since the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra gives his music much more depth than he could possibly give by performing the pieces alone. Now, not leaning on 'synth' effects, the music is its own testimony. A great collection of masterpieces.
The music is on the Private Music label, now part of history, but once owned by Peter Baumann. He wanted to give artists their own label and to let them make their own music. Other great albums of Yanni, especially the first two 'Keys to Imagination' and 'Out of Silence' were also available on this label. These albums are richly represented on this live recording. Happily, the second part of the CD touches also more recent music by Yanni, showing that he is a tall, and growing artist.
The joy heard on this album is in my opinion contributed to the successful collaboration of all participating artists, not in the least to the ones that made the historical setting an overwhelming background for this beautiful night.
