Bekki Williams - Edge of Human

Artist: Bekki Williams
P: 2007
The music on 'The Edge of Human' is so far typically Bekki in style; however, unlike her classic album Innersense, 'Edge' concentrates as much on the synthetic as the symphonic.
Full of rich melodies and intricate sequencing, the album is sure to delight fans of her previous releases. The UK mistress of melody that took her early inspirations from the like of Mark Shreeve and Andy Pickford - but whatever you level at Bekki Williams, the one thing that always remains paramount is that this lady can sure write a catchy tune! But, unlike the syrupy world of mediocre malady that is the commercial, film-ridden, synth fraternity, she writes tunes that have substance, strength, pace and direction. All of which is why a new album from her is immediate - there’s no “getting into it”, no “play it three or four times to see what it’s all about” - none of that.
This album sets its stall from start to finish, and that is a playing field where you’re out to have fun. From slower tunes such as the delightful light majesty of ‘First Light’ through orchestral-laden splendor in the form of ‘Where Times Collide’ to the richly expansive deceleration of ‘The Azmara Variations’, this is an album of vast, stretched-out melody-laden mini-epics and, like fellow label mate Robert Fox, she has a flair for the huge sweeping chords that cover you like a prairie wind coming down from the canyons on a summer heat.
‘Edge Of Human’ is quite orchestral sounding for the most part, occasionally more “Euro” when the sequencers come into play, but it always has a vast depth of layers and textures in abundance.
This is the musical equivalent of a meal at The Ritz, where the end result is always guaranteed satisfaction and, after too much of a good thing, the thought that some day soon, you'd love to do it all over again.

Bekki Williams - Elysian Fields Remastered

Artist: Bekki Williams
P: 1996 / 2015

This CD is a superb debut. Many of you will wonder at times "could this be one Andy Pickford in disguise?" It is certainly as good as his work, and leaves you eagerly waiting for her live appearances and future albums. It's great to hear true EM from a female in what has previously been a male dominated area. If this is anything to go by, let's have more!
Bekki Williams is a keyboard genius. Elysian Fields will calm you, elate you, make you happy and sad. These powerful sounds will send you soaring among the clouds then through myth, legend and the cosmos.
You will discover places in your inner being that you have never visited before. This is one of the best synth albums that I have heard in a long time. Fifty eight minutes of pure audio enjoyment ensuring that one listen will never be enough.
Elysian Fields was originally released on CD in 1995 but went out of print in 2013. The album was remastered in 2015 for a digital release and is now available to download and purchase on CDR with original CD booklet art.

This emotive and melodic album is a treasure trove of thematic EM/New Age based on Greek mythology. A recognized classic of the genre now remastered to sound even better! One of the USA’s leading electronic music outlets, Eurock, wrote of Elysian Fields; “This is like a breath of fresh air, not just another UK clone work. Bekki Williams brings a definite feminine sensibility into her music, making it more emotive and ornate… the music is as magical as the title implies”.

Bekki Williams - Innersense

Artist: Bekki Williams
P: 2005
Bekki Williams creates mostly symphonic-like new age music. It starts very nicely on “A Breath Away” with a Vangelis or Andy Pickford-like classic atmosphere.
From “Secret Recesses Of The Heart” onward, the music moves in the direction of being similar to Yanni’s, i.e. well-played and well-recorded romantic melodies with an orchestral background.
Sometimes, Jean Michel Jarre also greets the listener, such as on “Subliminal Sensuality” and “From The Ashes”.

Bekki Williams - Shadow of the Wind

Artist: Bekki Williams
P: 1997
"Shadow of the Wind is a masterpiece of symphonic electronic music that will remind many of the best works by the Euro Superstars Jarre and Vangelis... the level of sophistication both musically and instrumentally is stunning. It's rare that a relatively new artist comes up with anything this impressive".
"This is warm, melodic EM at its most accomplished. Bekki's style is a world away from the free-form analogue improvisations of some contemporary acts, and yet she represents what is probably the most accessible genre of EM, concentrating on melody and wide-eyed romanticism. Its potential appeal is great and she could turn out to be AD Music's first big breakthrough. Watch this space".
