The latest album release from the Danish electronic wizards Tony Andersen and Kent Eskildsen is a new step in their musical evolution.
After making the Navigator Trilogy Project “ Northern Consequence”, Oceanic Empire” and “Airwaves” with Jens Peschke, the two electronic musicians have entered the more accessible and commercial arena. Travelling Light contains electronic tracks with a lounge emphasis, as well as fresh voices from the female singers Tina S. Johansen & Stine M. Knudsen.
Their voices immediately give way to a broader appeal of the musician`s style.
The songs “Sky is the limit” and “Time they say” give the listener an emotional anchor and I for one have been caught humming the two songs on several occasions.
For the more diehard krautrock fan, the album also contains the more classical electro tracks such as “Define Yourself”, “The Lab” and “Native”, in more upbeat versions.
Many use vocoder sounds, combining classic electronica with present sound.
Having the pleasure of attending numerous concerts with the band in the past, I for one have been very fond of their live experiments and drive. This has finally been realised on this new studio album.
For the electronic fanatics as well as the more relaxed lounge listeners.
This is certainly an album well recommended.
