This is filled with majestic flowing soundscapes that occasionally border on eerie, sequencer rhythms, and spacey synth textures.
This evolutionary journey begins with Twilight and tolling cathedral bells, setting the serious tenor from the outset. A quick look at the cover with its' reflective humanoids and floating mountains shows that the evolution referred to here is not the same as our own planet. The sleeve note describes it this way: "Evolution is a journey. It starts from out of nothing with the very first breath of eternity and it ends up far beyond imagination." This number progresses along dark ambient lines until it fades into the sound of ocean waves.
The waves roll into the second track, Innovation, which begins to pick up the pace with the first drum sounds and sequence. The tracks tend to flow into one another, often (almost too often) through the vehicle of the waves though other tonal links are used such as the jet rush linking us to track five.
The fifth track, Fusions, brings in some interesting guitar work over a synth background that reminds me, surprisingly, of Pink Floyd. It's not that his style is so much like David Gilmour, rather the tone of the guitar brings the comparison to mind. This, interestingly, is followed by several minutes of calmer mellower lines until the storm comes up. Mixed into the "rain" is a very ominous organ sound that introduces us once again to the guitar.
The genre overall is very much "Berlin School meets ambient", and the music is lucid and well done. There are many floating thought evoking tranquil moments that tumble artfully into powerful sequencer passages. Lovers of classic electronica will enjoy this release.
