Fatal Tangent

German-born Arne Weinberg was influenced as a young kid by his mother and her varied musical tastes. After several excursions into different musical styles such as Death Metal and Hip Hop in his teenage years, Weinberg discovered techno at the age of 21. His first record was released in early 2001 and gained solid recognition by the likes of influential artists such as Laurent Garnier. Post-2002, a string of twelve-inch releases followed on such labels as Starbaby, Down Low, Headspace and Technoir Audio. Weinberg today owns and curates the Diametric label, home to many an idiosyncratic electronic music producer.
UK producer John Shima boasts similar production credits, issuing many well-received EPs on a roster of independent electronic labels, operating in the ghost realm between warm IDM/techno hybrids and Detroit-influenced futurist techno. Reviewing his "Fader" release, the Edinburgh Evening News said, "It’s all gone sci-fi with this beautiful Detroit Techno EP. The standout track, 'Archer', is a dreamy slice of musical head-honey, hypnotic chords releasing warm pads and shimmering sounds. Delightful." Compared to Beaumont Hannant and The Black Dog, Shima has himself managed to stand out from the electronica pack, his work going from strength to strength.
