Michael Brückner - Trees of Olivanda

Artist: Michael Brückner
P: 2017
I just wanted to say that I listened to "The Trees Of Olivandá" twice today, and it's truly wonderful!! So much variety, so much movement, tons of deep space synths with lots of soloing, but I loved all the modern beats and dance moments too. It perfectly balances vintage Schulze/TDream/Jarre/Berlin School styles with modern sounds. I think it's a particularly accessible disc as well, without ever being too lightweight or insubstantial. It's just very melodic without sacrificing atmosphere or intelligence. You should be really proud of it!

Michael Brückner - Trois Briques

Artist: Michael Brückner
P: 2016
Music like a soundtrack from a movie. A story told in three chapters "La Brique Bleue (I have to play games)", La Brique Verte "(...just an empty nest)" and La Brique Noire "(the aloha shop at Honolulu)".

Michael Brückner about his album:

"Trois Briques" is one of those albums which seem to manifest themselves rather effortlessly:

One day in March 2016, I had a (more technical than musical) idea and tested that with a string of musical sketches, of which each was a mutation of the previous one (except for the first, obviously). I quite liked the result (although it tended more to chill-out music than intended), added a few touches of melody, chords and effects, and together with two similar earlier "test tracks" I quickly made a collage of the material and shared that to the public via a music platform called "Mixcloud" - where Kilian Schloemp became aware of it. He immediately emailed me and asked if I could imagine to release this material on SynGate. While I originally had no further plans to use this music, with that offer on the table, I made up my mind and answered "Why not - but maybe later..." That initial "mixtape" had a running time of about 30 min. so obviously I needed further material for a full album - therefore some weeks later I filed my backup archives for suitable additional music (actually there's still so much of it that I tend to simply forget some of it after a while, especially if it were equipment try-outs and other sketches based on technical or conceptual ideas).  And indeed I soon unearthed another 30 min. worth of nice tracks with a similar concept, however of a slightly darker mood and a more experimental edge to it. Again some months later, one weekend I decided the time was there to transform these sketches in something more consistent. I partly remixed the material, added some further elements and parts and recorded one more track that would serve as a bridge between the two longer "suites". Finally I felt that the result partly seemed like a soundtrack, and added some voice samples (which I had borrowed from some old and obscure 50ies and 60ies TV series) to further enhance the storytelling element of the album. All this came about in two days for each of the original long tracks and one weekend of putting it together and fine tuning everything - as I've said: quite effortlessly, it rather felt like the music had been given to me than like I had created it.

Michael Brückner - Two Letters from Crimea (2CD)

The bigger part of this album is the recording of a concert I played on the evening of the 1st of April 2014 in Sankt Peter in Frankfurt, a former church that has been turned into a - actually very nice - concert hall / event location / cultural center...

P'Faun - The Marburg Sessions (2 CD)

Artist: P'Faun
P: 2025

In early February 2023, the members of P'Faun gathered at guitarist Sammy David's studio near Marburg to work on new music.
The aim was to record improvised jams based on spontaneity and immediate communication, as improvisation had always been one of the trio's strengths.
The result was ten extended space rock journeys full of energy and inventiveness, each with its own story to tell.
After recording, the band let the material rest for a while, only to return to it with fresh ears in the spring of 2025.
Apart from some cosmetic surgery here and there, the sessions have remained in their original form, as they thrive on the development of ideas and the flow of the music.
No smoothly ironed-out production according to the cookbook, but living, panting, sweating jams full of corners, edges and surprising twists, somewhere in the imaginary intersection of Pink Floyd, Klaus Schulze, Hawkwind and Nektar...
The 3 musicians combine all what you expect from electronic space-rock.
