D`Voxx - Herzog
Artist: D`Voxx
P: 2026
DIN 95
LTD 333

This bold new release by modular synth duo d’Voxx is their third on the DiN imprint, having previously released Télégraphe (DiN58) & 1984 (DiN75) to much critical acclaim. To give it its full title – HERZOG: A Retrospective by d’Voxx – sees Nino Auricchio and Paul Borg expanding their sonic horizons with musical interpretations of the five films legendary German film director Werner Herzog made between 1972 and 1987 with the mercurial actor Klaus Kinski.
Needless to say, this gives the album a very cinematic feel, where the modular systems that are at the core of their sound are still very much present but often in supporting roles around which the genre-bending five tracks rise and fall. Their ambitious sound worlds incorporate elements of prog, techno, rock, field recordings, and even a sample of a 1911 opera on, where else but the track Impossible Monolith, which references the epic film Fitzcarraldo. The duo state that these tracks do not attempt to score the films but rather to inhabit their territories: the fevered conquistador descending into megalomania; Woyzeck ground to psychological dust by institutional cruelty; Fitzcarraldo’s monumental folly; Nosferatu’s ancient weariness; the slave trader’s trajectory through exploitation and dissolution.
This third outing from d’Voxx will delight and surprise their admirers in equal measure and once again proves that the DiN label never stands still but is constantly looking to push through the straitjacket of genre boundaries.

Loula Yorke – Hydrology

Artist: Loula Yorke
P: 2025
DIN 94

LTD 500 Exemplare
Loula Yorke is a UK-based modular synthesist and educator. Debuting with YSMYSMYSM on Detroit label Junted in 2019, her career really took off after her synth-building workshop Atari Punk Girls was recognised with a coveted Oram Award (PRS/BBC Radiophonic Workshop). Since then she’s released several albums on her own label Truxalis as well as via ambient electronic specialists such as quiet details and Castles in Space. Yorke’s hypnotically looping album Volta, released in 2024, was chosen as The Quietus’ Album of the Week and Electronic Sound’s #2 Album of the Year, as well as earning acclaim from trusted tastemakers such as The Wire, Tom Ravenscroft and Mary-Anne Hobbs. Yorke has played live in churches, warehouses, and arts centres from Cafe Oto to Tabakalera. In September 2025 she supported smallpipe virtuoso Brìdghe Chaimbeul on her London and Bristol tour dates with Shahzad Ismaily, catching the ear of a whole new audience of adventurous music lovers.
Yorke has a unique style of playing her modular synthesiser instruments, pairing emotional, introspective moments with technical flair and a deep love of evolving cyclical patterns. For this, her debut DiN solo release, she has explored the world of water in all its myriad forms. The six separate tracks form a cohesive whole that lives and breathes, growing from beautiful ambient sections through to pulsing oscillations that shimmer and shine. Never staying still at any moment, the music takes on the elusive quality of that most precious of liquids to create an album immersed in Loula’s unique sound world. This new release from Yorke is another fine addition to the DiN canon, providing a showcase for her outstanding electronic music and singular musical vision.

Field Lines Cartographer – Resplendent In The Light Of The Universe
Artist: Field Lines Cartographer
P: 2025
DIN 93
LTD 333 Copies

The second solo album on the DiN imprint from UK synthesist Mark Burford, aka Field Lines Cartographer, sees him venturing even further out into the cosmic void with an hour long suite of modular explorations. His previous DiN release, Portable Reality Generator (DiN85), was enthusiastically received, and as with that release the music on this new album flows seamlessly from one track to the next. Burford has been establishing a fine reputation both as a live performer and with releases on several labels such as Castles In Space, Quiet Details and Woodford Halse. His musicality and deft touch are certainly at the fore on the beautifully named ‘Resplendent In The Light Of The Universe’. Using a range of analogue modular instruments as well as an array of digital effects Burford weaves music for a deep contemplation of questions alluding to the underlying nature of the cosmos. The eight tracks have such an organic feel and swell and grow like nebulae. With reference to the albums title they have an inner light which shines through the swirling clouds of texture. At times he ventures into Berlin School sequencer territory, especially in tracks such as ‘Various Rotations’ and ‘The Light of Billion Stars’, but it’s never a slavish pastiche of this idiom but rather his own musical voice finding form in this particular style. Elsewhere pieces such as ‘Forever Spheres’ and ‘Gentle Flows’, which bookend the album, are particularly redolent of, in his own words, “the splendour of the luminous universe”. This new release from Field Lines Cartographer is another fine addition to the DiN canon and takes the labels musical roots forward to a bright future.

Ian Boddy + Erik Wollo - Transmissions
Artist: Ian Boddy + Erik Wollo
P: 2025
DIN 92
LTD 500

Norwegian ambient guitarist Erik Wøllo has become a familiar name to followers of the DiN label as he has previously collaborated with label boss Ian Boddy on three studio albums as well as a couple of releases with Bernhard Wöstheinrich. His other live release with Boddy was from their only concert together so far, “EC12”, from their performance at the Electronic Circus in Germany in 2012. That is, until April 2024, when the Capstone Theatre in Liverpool invited Wøllo to perform alongside Boddy at what would be his UK debut. During the evening at the Capstone each musician played solo sets and then combined on stage to play an electrifying hour long performance mining tracks from their previous two albums “Meridian” (DiN54) and “Revolve” (DiN73). It is this joint concert that forms their new release, “Transmissions” (DiN92). Taking the original pieces as their starting point the duo played reworked and extended versions of these tracks with Wøllo getting the chance to play some wonderful guitar solos that take the music to a whole new level. Meanwhile Boddy used his Eurorack modular system to sculpt and mould the rhythmic sequencers and drums around Erik’s playing, as well as adding his distinctive French Connection Ondes style voicings. The main set was a continuous sonic journey through mystical soundscapes and rhythmic slices of Berlin School sequencing. The final encore track was a rendition of the track “Apogee” from the duos 2022 album “Revolve” (DiN73) with Wøllo playing a blistering guitar solo over Boddy’s heavy, sequenced grooves. This is a real treat for DiN aficionados and a perfect example of how two experienced musicians can take existing material and take it to new emotional heights in a live setting.

Ian Boddy + Harald Grosskopf - Doppelgaenger

P: 2025

LTD 500 Copies

A new collaboration between Boddy and legendary German drummer & synthesist Harald Grosskopf. Grosskopf on Drums and Synths.
What do mean you didn't know that Ian Boddy is basically the Klaus Schulze of Sunderland? Well, now you do! 70s German electronic music has been a huge inspiration for Boddy and that's evident in his sound, although he makes his particular brand of kosmische music very much his own. Here he is collaborating with krautrock legend Harald Grosskopf who provides his keyboard skills and percussion as Boddy sets the dials of his synthesizers towards the heart of the sun. Berlin school music pulled into the present day and beamed lightyears into the future.

iNDEX09 is the ninth DiN compilation album and includes two tracks each from the titles
DiN81 – 89. The artists on show this time are Polypores, Benge, Parallel Worlds, Dave Bessell, Field Lines Cartographer, Sophos and ARC, as well as a collaboration between
Ian Boddy & Dave Bessell. Furthermore DiN86 was the highly significant 25 Years of DiN double CD album, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the DiN label, so there are also two tracks included from this release with tracks by Ian Boddy and Robert Rich. As with the previous eight DiN samplers label boss Ian Boddy has mixed and cross-faded the 18 tracks into a continuous ambient mix that not only showcases the albums featured on the release but presents an exciting and varied title in its own right. It also highlights the varied and intriguing music that the DiN label offers on its releases from deep analogue synth grooves through vibrantly melodic instrumentals to powerful, epic ambient atmospheres. An intoxicating mix of the old and new beautifully presented in a slimline cardboard wallet with an extra flap which just adds to the value and collectibility of this release. With a total release catalogue now of 131 titles the DiN label is continuing to innovate and evolve as it heads into 2025 with the next milestone of 100 physical releases for the main imprint coming into sight.

ARC - Chronicle

Artist: ARC
P: 2024
DIN 89
LTD 1000

Live albums have always been a big feature of the DiN imprints output, with many of its releases featuring performances by label boss Ian Boddy either solo or in conjunction with other artists. Seven such albums have been as the duo ARC with Boddy alongside his friend and musical collaborator Mark Shreeve who sadly passed away in 2022.
Their show at E-Live in The Netherlands from 2007 was the only concert of theirs so far unreleased and hence ‘Chronicle’ is both here to fill that gap and to provide a reminder of the power this duo could create in a ‘live’ setting.
This concert was unusual in that ARC used it as a chance to showcase their recently released album ‘Fracture’ and indeed the duo constructed their set around the five tracks from that album, interlinked by short ambient passages. Underpinning the rhythmic elements of each piece is the huge Moog modular utilised by Mark over the years to such sensational effect, not only in the ARC project but his band Redshift. In creating that “Berlin School” sound, this system is the real deal and under his skilled sequencing the pieces have an organic life that breathe and can grow from a tiny staccato rhythm to a huge growl in seconds. Over this structure Boddy and Shreeve layer atmospheric effects, warm chordal motifs and blistering solo lines.
The concert culminates in the sensational twenty-two minute epic track ‘Rapture’ which begins with spacey, drifting atmospheres before chordal Mellotrons add a sense of the grandiose. This just lulls the audience into a sense of calm before those sequencers thunder in to produce a truly hypnotic and incredible sonic climax.
‘Chronicle’ is a testament to the music of ARC but more particularly in remembering Mark Shreeve, who left us all way too early.

Sophos - Sending Signals
Artist: Sophos
P: 2024
DIN 88
LTD 250 Copies

Sending Signals (DiN88) is inspired by the work of renowned British astrophysicist Sir Roger Penrose, in particular the concept that advanced civilisations could leave markers or signals for the next cycle or rebirth of the universe. Indeed his music has its origins in the Berlin School and space music genres but he takes it far beyond their limits with the introduction of intricate rhythms and modern digital textures to produce a sound all his own. Over the course of nine tracks the music gently meanders through a series of tone poems incorporating Vangelis like lead lines, ostinato sequencer patterns and lush chordal pads. At other times more glitchy textures are introduced as well as field recordings and IDM style drum patterns. This all adds up to a totally unique album that crosses the boundaries of musical genres which is something DiN has always encouraged.

Ian Boddy + Dave Bessell - Polarity
Artist: Ian Boddy & Dave Bessell
P: 2024
DIN 87
LTD 500 Copies

With the DiN label celebrating its 25th anniversary it’s perhaps important to remember that one of the founding principles of the imprint was to encourage musical collaborations between different artists. Indeed label boss Ian Boddy has previously collaborated with eight separate musicians, including such luminaries as Robert Rich, Erik Wøllo, Chris Carter, Markus Reuter and Mark Shreeve (as ARC). Thus when the UK based Awakenings electronic music concert series invited Boddy to perform a gig alongside Dave Bessell an opportunity arose for a new, untried musical collaboration.
Bessell of course is no stranger to followers of DiN records with his solo work, albums alongside Parallel Worlds and his part in synth supergroup Node. Both artists played solo sets before joining forces for a stunning 60 minute joint performance. This album features the latter set which is split into two longer sections followed by their ambient encore.
Opening proceedings with retro abstract synth meanderings it’s not long before Boddy’s signature Ondes voice shines through the gloom and a calm, gentle section sees Bessell join in with the beautiful tones of his Aum guitar. After a brief ambient interlude Boddy begins to build a wall of sequencers brick by brick with Bessell soloing on Minimoog before the music all comes crashing back down to the eerie tones that started this set.
The second piece begins with unusual, piquant harmonic progressions from Bessell overlaid with pizzicato percussion. There follows a lengthy, extended sequencer session which is again meticulously constructed by Boddy and his arsenal of modular synths. Whilst Bessell provides an arc of ever rising chordal pads Boddy continuously twists and turns the ostinato patterns as this section rises to a monumental sonic climax.
Following such hectic, rhythmic textures the duo opt for a gentle, blissful encore with each artist improvising against each other with warm, analogue chords and pads.
Polarity again shines a light on the wonderful opportunities collaborations can offer, especially in a live performance where each artist has to not only play but also listen to, and respond to the other performer.

Various Artists – 25 Years of DiN (2CD)
Artist: Ian Boddy, Bessel, Wollo,Benge, Rich,RMI, ARC, NOde u.a.
P: 2024
DIN 86
LTD

This is certainly a milestone release for the DiN label as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Needless to say, this is quite an achievement for a niche, independent label that has relentlessly ploughed its own path for quarter of a century. Its catalogue and release schedule has been carefully curated over all these years by label boss Ian Boddy, who launched the imprint way back in the spring of 1999. It is perhaps a reflection of his own musical identity which, whilst grounded in the Berlin School of the 1970s, has continued to evolve and grow to cover ever widening areas of electronic music, where sub-genres can be mixed and matched at will. There have been plenty of compilation albums released on the DiN label in the past, most notably the iNDEX sampler albums, of which there have been eight to date. These cover tracks from existing albums and are certainly a great showcase for the label. However, this double album is different, in that Boddy invited the majority of the musicians who have previously been released on the main DiN catalogue to compose new pieces. Spread across two discs, this amounts to 142 minutes of sublime, varied and thoroughly original music. Ranging from beautifully ambient to dark brooding soundscapes, via cinematic electronica through to old school Berlin School sequencer workouts, “25 Years of DiN” is a wonderful distillation of the DiN label. Presented in a stunning six panel fold out Digipak double CD package with 8-page booklet featuring an essay by Neil Mason (Moonbuilding), this release is a must-have for collectors of the DiN labels output.
