"Nerve Net" is an interesting work where it takes a hard left turn toward more "funk" and "fusion" renderings a la Jon Scofield and/or Pat Metheney. There are, of course, typical Eno "ambient" moments contained within this set, however, the true mood here is "electric." It's quite the departure from its predecessor, the dark and brooding, "Shutov Assembly," but it does have moments of that album too. It's livelier, beat-heavy in places and more charged than his usual stripped down, mellow fare; like he drank a few cups of Espresso in the midst of creating it.
