Kraftwerk

Kraftwerk

Kraftwerk is a pioneering and a highly influential electronic music band from Düsseldorf, Germany. The signature Kraftwerk sound combines driving, repetitive rhythms with catchy melodies, mainly following a Western classical style of harmony, with a minimalistic and strictly electronic instrumentation. The group's simplified lyrics are at times sung through a vocoder or generated by computer-speech software. Kraftwerk were one of the first groups to popularize electronic music. In the early to late 1970s and the early 1980s, Kraftwerk's distinctive sound was revolutionary, and it has had a lasting effect across many genres of modern music.

Wolfgang Fluer - Magazine 1

Artist: Wolfgang Flür
P: 2022

A thrilling return to the Techno-Pop sound that he helped to define with electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk between 1974’s ‘Autobahn’ and 1986’s ‘Electric Café’. An all new electronic album, ‘Magazine 1’, that has been crafted by Wolfgang Flür alongside some of the most famous names of synth-pop and electronic dance, past and present. Featuring Midge Ure (Ultravox), Peter Hook (New Order) and Claudia Brücken (Propaganda), alongside the legendary Techno DJ’s Juan Atkins and Carl Cox and Electro-Pop titans U96, plus appearances by celebrated alternative electronic artists and composers Ramón Amezcua (AKA Bostich), MAPS and Anushka, adding just a frisson of deft contemporary nuance to the proceedings! Wolfgang Flür is the only surviving member of that classic Kraftwerk line-up who is currently making and releasing new music! No-one currently making Techno-pop records has Wolfgang Flür’s career longevity and revered stature and, perhaps, no-one has ever made electronic records with such a warm and radical lyrical humanism. Songs that musically draw on a readily identifiable retro-electro palate, but which lyrically speak to us of our times, of our shared ‘here and now’ with a campaigning humanism that reflects on the challenges, disorientations and uncertainties of this unprecedented time of change.

Wolfgang Fluer - Times

Artist: Wolfgang Flür
P: 2025

New studio album from Kraftwerk member circa 1974 to 1986. • Featuring many big name synth-pop and dance music collaborators including German techno duo U96, Boris Blank (Yello), Thomas Vangarde (ex-Daft Punk), Juan Atkins, Antony Rother, Emil Schult (ex-Kraftwerk collaborator) and Peter Hook (ex-New Order). • CD edition packaged in a cardboard digifile complete with a 16 page booklet. There were four members in Kraftwerk’s often mooted classic period from 1974’s ‘Autobahn’ to 1986’s ‘Electric Café’ and Wolfgang Flür was one of them, the band’s erstwhile electronic percussionist. Wolfgang Flür’s subsequent and celebrated emergence as a solo, creative electro-pop tour de force has been steadfast and determined. His early life’s musical immersion in Kraftwerk instilled a dramatic electronic / synth sensibility which has become, in his highly productive later life, a gift that keeps on giving with a dependability and surprise factor that has eluded many of his contemporaries. For now, he holds the torch for the continuing creativity of his generation of electronic music pioneers: inspiring and entertaining, while still pushing boundaries within his unique oeuvre of highly melodic, narrative led, retro- futurism. His music is immersive and though he grapples with the accelerated passing of time and the rapidity of changes therein, he does it with a celebratory optimism; a relentless, infectious hope for humanity.

Zeitkratzer – Zeitkratzer Performs Songs From The Albums "Kraftwerk" And "Kraftwerk 2"

Artist: Zeitkratzer
P: 2017

To mark their 30th anniversary, the ensemble dedicated itself to the first two KRAFTWERK albums, "Kraftwerk" and "Kraftwerk 2," which were unpopular with both the band and their fans. ZEITKRATZER now consistently continues this concept. It's simply astonishing how closely a chamber music ensemble can come to the electroacoustic original! Founded and directed in 1997 by REINHOLD FRIEDL (piano), ZEITKRATZER consists of ten instrumentalists who are among the top ranks of improvisational and avant-garde musicians. Together, the chamber music orchestra is dedicated to new music/contemporary classical music, but also enjoys stepping outside of the narrow academic circles and collaborating with artists such as the electronic sound designer CARSTEN NICOLAI, aka ALVA NOTO, and the Japanese noise pioneer MERZBOW.
