Fanger + Schönwälder - Analog Overdose

Artist: Fanger & Schönwälder
P:2006
Thomas Fanger and Mario Schönwälder present us a work where rhythm, atmospheres and melody are very well combined. The basic style includes Space and Trance traits. Although there are some slow passages, most of the music has a good rhythm, with a prevalence of the sequencers in the rhythmic structures. This is a powerful work, where the artists contribute their musical talent to achieve a fresh, emotive sonic journey. Fanger and Schönwälder counted with the special collaboration of Lutz Ulbrich, well known for his success in the famous band Ashra Tempel. Ulbrich plays guitar on three tracks.

Analog Overdose 4 is a pure Berlin School feast. But a Berlin School to which the duet combines with a unique contemporariness. Splitting by short sequences, the Berliners duet appreciably modifies the structure of the rhythm with short random fluctuations, plunging Berlin Breakfast in a celestial atmosphere. The solos of synths, some with guitars appearances, put a sweet intoxicate into this soft electronic daydream.
Heavy arpeggios, intersected with electronic clappers, impregnate obscure reverberations to Frankfurt Lunch intro. We are in full hallucinatory jungle where eclectic sonorities of animals rove in heavy atmospheric pads. A fine sequence emerges from this tropical blackness, to form a zigzagging tempo which wakes up a movement bursting of velocity, where solos of synths are squabbling on limpid chords which drown in symphonic synths. The atmosphere is heavy and the synthesized pads opaque, creating a rich and moulding sound envelope, as at the beautiful time of Phaedra and Rubycon.

Analog Overdose 4 + continues the Berlin School tradition which we find also on the Overdose 4. Fanger + Schönwälder - Analog Overdose 5

Artist: Fanger & Schönwälder + Ulbrich
P:2014
This is the second release of the Fanger & Schönwälder's Analog Overdose series which features Lutz Graf-Ulbrich on guitar.  This man is a living legend, known from bands like Agitation Free, 17 Hippies and his solo project Lüül. His subtle and unique guitar play adds a very special and personal tone to the music. Most likely Analog Overdose 5  is the most diversified album by Thomas Fanger and Mario Schönwälder so far. They mix various musical elements with ease: from post-rock, psychedelic ambient drones, hypnotic sequencer rides to krautrock and funky space disco. The over 22 minutes long track „Frankfurter Allee“ was recorded during a live session in a car driving through Berlin. It features various iPads and of course Lutz' famous Gibson SG guitar.

Fanger + Schönwälder feat.LÜÜL - Analog Overdose 6

Artist: Fanger & Schönwälder + Lutz Ulbrich
P:2021
Fanger & Schönwälder are an integral part of the Berlin electronic scene.
In addition to his solo and band projects, Mario Schönwälder is also successful as the operator of the Manikin Records label. Thomas Fanger has been active in numerous electro, house and ambient projects since the 90s. As on the first and fifth editions of the Analog Overdose series, Fanger and Schönwälder have brought Lutz Graf-Ulbrich aka Lüül on board again for the sixth Analog Overdose. His unmistakable guitar playing gives the tracks a very personal touch. On the latest work, Lüül also plays ukulele and banjo in addition to acoustic and electric guitar. The whole album comes across as pleasantly versatile and varied. The musical spectrum ranges from post-rock, psychedelic ambient drones and hypnotic sequencer descents to krautrock and space disco.
