99% of my albums start from the cover image, which becomes the map I follow to create the music. When I started working with a new instrument called Icarus – yet another jewel by Tone2’s Markus Krause, the sounds I was getting from it inspired me so much that I recorded almost half of this double album just driven by the sounds themselves. When I was halfway through it, though, the need for a visual map came back. I tried to come up with an adequate cover, but to no avail. Therefore, I turned to the usual place: my uncle Domenico “Sem” Semeraro’s magnificent photos. I sent him some bits of music to listen to and he sent me a selection of pictures. The ones you can see on the covers are the ones that immediately jumped at me and became the visual map for the rest of the music.
This double album is as much mine as it is Markus’s and Sem’s, two incredible artists whose works are a great source of inspiration for me.
The two volumes of this album were recorded using solely Tone2’s Icarus and the soundset I made for it called “Psychophonia.”
