Tangerine Dream - London Eye Concert 2008 (Purple P)

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 2010
'THE LONDON EYE CONCERT' was recorded during Tangerine Dream's live concert at the FORUM at London-Kentishtown on 1st November 2008. London's and TD's soundscapes are so unique like a score to a movie. The British influence in TD's music within their 40 years' development most people may have recognised. For those who couldn't join the concert or like to relive it again: Here's the full cut of their beat show at the Forum in Kentishtown (including a nice booklet). A kaleidoscope beginning with the new title "Trauma" (Autumn In Hiroshima) and ending with the breathtaking live interpretation of the TD classic "Cloudburst Flight".
Enjoy a great concert - nearly 3 hours with a very fresh mastering

Tangerine Dream - Lost in Strings Vol. 1

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 2013

When a writer for the LA Times asked Edgar few years back, how he would define his guitar playing skills, Edgar’s answer was very straight: “I’m not the best one, but I know what I’m doing”. So, through the last decades while Tangerine Dream participated from Edgar’s “painful exercises” on his six string, he never brought himself too much to the foreground. This is the first time you can listen to some of his guitar landmarks and find out about his authentic style when he gets lost in his strings…. Volume II to be continued!:-)

Tangerine Dream - Luminous Visions (DVD + CD)

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 1998

This release has several attractions for the TD fan:
- A chance to hear TD write in a more rhythmic, "techno" style. Some of the rhythms are reminiscent of their 70s sequencer material, but with 90s polish and sensibilities.
- A relatively short but dense interview with TD, including brief clips of a recent concert (I wish they would release a whole DVD of that!), as well as Edgar talking a little bit about everything.
The computer animation shorts of Yoichiro Kawaguchi have been a feature of the ACM SIGGRAPH Electronic Theater for over 10 years. Some of the shorts are available on VHS through the Association of Computing Machinery, however, this DVD features an extended selection of the Kawaguchi material, that is hard to find anywhere else. The technical quality far exceeds that found on VHS and all the material is presented continuously rather than scattered among various SIGGRAPH tapes. For fans of abstract computer animation and electronic music, it does not get much better than this.

This is the version, where the original soundtrack is also included as an additional CD.

Tangerine Dream - Machu Picchu

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 2012 / 2022

‘Machu Picchu’ is one of those more intimate projects by TD – not planned for a release during the composing and recording process. It used to be an homage to a man who – like no other person in the business – had ‘created’ TD´s career from a distance, believing in their talent and extraordinary skills, his name was John Peel. The background story and atmospheric influence of this one-piece- 42-minutes- composition, came to life after this music driven character and longtime BBC progressive pioneer passed away in October 2004 in the city of Cusco (Peru) close to the sacred Inca site ‘Machu Picchu’. Our fans should understand that this CD is more than just another record, it is a non-verbal applause, a greeting, a respectful obeisance for a man who truly was remarkable and unique in the best sense of this word.
Edgar didn’t want to release these compositions in the first place – “I’ve made them for my own”, he said. But as years passed by, his wife argued with him about his decision, ´this music in your vaults makes no sense for anybody except being part of your own history – one day, to be polite´. So, about two month ago Edgar gave in, and here it is, maybe another one of TD´s most private attempts within their enormous musical outputs.

Tangerine Dream - Madcap's Flaming Duty (DVD + CD)

Artist: Tangerine Dream
P: 2007

This release includes the album as well as a DVD with the studio performance of all songs by the band.
DVD includes "Solution To All Problems" as additional intro.

TD’s performance of all 13 new songs - including a bonus song -, shows the Band in a very cool and relaxed atmosphere. Additionally you’ll see some ‘making of images’ as well as a 6 minutes Intro. It is probably the most intimate and private session the Band has done so far. Sit back and relax while watching parts of a very different world of Tangerine Dream’s musical universe.
Madcap’s Flaming Duty is true to Tangerine Dream’s form, full of hollow sounds and spacey atmosphere. It is dedicated to former Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett, and the lyrics of each song are taken from the poems of British and American poets, ranging from William Blake to Ralph Waldo Emerson to Walt Whitman. Depending on your tolerance for such kitsch in your music, the idea is either insufferably pretentious or delightfully frivolous. Either way, the poetry fits perfectly with the layered landscape of the music.
Chris Hausl, the vocalist, inflects the poems with despair, although at times he sounds like he’s doing an impression of Ian Curtis. However, for a band that has often been criticized for failing to integrate vocals effectively within the music, Madcap’s Flaming Duty is a coup. Hausl uses his voice in an understated way, and his reservation manages to mesh with the ambience of the album.

This DVD was originally recorded in January 2007 in Vienna.
