Various Artists - The Beatless Collection Vol. 1

Artist: Various Artists
P: 2008
Elektrolux e10100000cd
When looking back on the development of electronic dance music during the past twenty years in fast forward mode, one of the few remaining constants is the beat: living metre of the club, catalyser of motor activity, heartbeat of the dancer. But why?
Meanwhile, the trendsetters of the current electronica scene follow a more differentiated approach. Pace and rhythmicity, the syncopic chords and sequences and, last but not least, deep emotional worlds of sound are positioning this new form of electronic dance music clearly in a club context without the bass drum playing her sometimes even crushing role. Finally, energetic tracks with musicality and sensual passion can be produced without drums very well. Now, Elektrolux mastermind Alex Azary applies himself to this phenomenon by the first and definitely ground-breaking compilation in the still young year 2008. This is just a logical consequence as Alex Azary, together with his co-producer Gabriel Le Mar, already anticipated a comparable sound aesthetics at his gigs at the UK cult club Orbit, Leeds, about ten years ago. This hybrid of club music and experimental electronics also characterizes the joint productions of Alex Azary and Gabriel Le Mar's brand new Subsonic Park project in terms of pace, deepness and the unterstanding of dub. On "the Beatless Collection", two tracks of the project can be found. The other compilation contributors are Kompakt producers Gui Boratto and Hiroshi Watanabe (aka Kaito), Anders Trentemøller (Copenhagen) Joris Voorn, Chymera, Ovum and Delsin ambassador of Ireland, Taho or Deadmau5 ˆ the list just reads like the who is who of current club music.
Many of the tracks now are released on CD for the first time. When downloading the album at Beatport or iTunes, you will get an additional mixed version with your download. Then at the latest, the circle to club aesthetics closes irrevocably.

Gabriel Le Mar - Reel Time DVD

Artist: Gabriel Le Mar
P: 2006
Elektrolux 100011111dvd

"On Reel Time, opulent stringslayer in early nineties tradition (“Firefly”), percussively enriched progressive House with a pinch of Acid (“Stick Dance”) or orientally inspired Dubfunk (zero db) can be found - a real cornucopia of style-determining factors from Le Mar´s broad musical socialisation between Ambienttrance, Downbeat, Chillout, Electro and, of course, lots of Dub. Thus, Reel Time kind of takes a stock of the Elektrolux sound from somebody with a deep understanding, bringing this mix of elements together to a synthesis in best “reel time” - just in the middle of the magic interface between past, presenceand future of electronic music! By his latest DVD Reel Time, Gabriel Le Mar astonishes everyone who thought they´d know him. There´s something for your eyes, too: Le Mar surprises us by sophisticated graphic and cinematic interpretations of his music. The level of artistic maturity and individuality of the clips is deeply impressing. Gabriel Le Mar studied at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin and worked as an art director as well. The sounds and images, among other places, were recorded in India, Nepal, Japan and Le Mar´s homebase, Frankfurt. For that purpose, Le Mar worked together with friends like George Din, Oliver Bradford (camera and direction) and Alex Azary (sound).
It is quite a mystery why the mastermind of Ambient Dub and co-founder of the Spacenight compilations waited to relase his solo debut until the eleventh year of the label history. Only when listening very carefully, the solution becomes obvious: Reel Time adds a new, powerful feeling to the Elektrolux sound - a brilliant intersection which had just been missing in the perfectly arranged world of electro. Gabriel Le Mar at the right time – enjoy Reel Time in sound and vision.

Various Artists - The Future is my Melody Vol. 2

Artist: Various Artists
P: 2005
Elektrolux e10001001cd
"Can Chillout and Pop go together? Electronic music has gone through a remarkable change during the last years by tracks having become less anonymous and more recognizable, especially with regard to song-like structures. Therefore, it was only logical that Elektrolux gave an impressing proof of the consensus of Ambient and Pop by the first issue of the compilation series The Future Is My Melody"" about two years ago. The aim was to set a new benchmark especially on the international market (e.g. Major licensings to Columbia for the US and Canada and to Universal for France). As a logical consequence, this success story is continued congenially in the anniversary year 2005. Twelve tracks of the more recent label history and two tracks which have not been released yet form an Ambient Pop Compilation which is already making us dream of next summer.
Marko Bussian, Jean-Charles Vandermynsbrugge and the Argentina-born Sol Ruiz de Galarreta are meeting for a sensual kiss on the beach of Ibiza (Fous de la Mer ""Conmigo""). The latest label act Groovecatcher is bewitched by the cathartic power of rain expressed in a deeply melancholic dub (""After The Rain""). The label founders Alex Azary and Pascal FEOS give an exclusive outlook to the third Aural Float by blending smooth but funky chilled Elektro breaks with vocals by Kim Sanders in a track akin to Prince productions (""Him And Her - Chris Wood Re-Edit"").
""The Future Is My Melody Vol. 2"", like part one, of course features tracks by Naoki Kenji, The Sushi Club, Jean F. Cochois, Fresh Moods and PFL feat. Julia Messenger. Thus, the future of the aesthetic power of melodies could not be brighter.

Metalob - Plastic Forest

Artist: Metalob
P: 2004
Elektrolux e10000010cd

"What comes out if a Japanese with a liking for Rock and Breakbeats creates Oriental Chill Out Moods in his Osaka-based studio? The answer and even more will begiven by a rumble through the Plastic Forest"" where Masumi Samukawa aka Metalob (short form for Metal Of Breakbeats) invites us by his worldwide album debut. After numerous Japan-exclusive releases, Metalob here presents the result of 2 years of intensive Macintosh work, overflowing with hardly restrained imagination. He surprises himself and his audience with unexpected melodious shifts again and again, yet evoking a harmonious vision of a recreation both futuristic and culture-spanning (""Airwave"", La´o Ageha""). But by sensitized subsonic percussive breaks like ""Anple"", ""Dorgo"" or ""Nerve Fish"", Samukawa demonstrates that the Breakbeats homage in the project name had not been chosen by chance. East meets West in the magic forest!

Artist: Phonosynthese
P: 2002
Elektrolux e1110100cd

We welcome Elektrolux newest exciting signing Phonosynthese, who deliver a cracking debut longplayer that will go down by storm among electronic listening fans everywhere. Combining classic ambient textures with a rough synthetic approach and wide range of mystic rhythms, these boys offer some outstanding sound designs that could best be described as a mushroom deranged dose of black magic. Exploring the depths of various contemporary listening styles, these fourteen little gems stray even into the deepest and darkest territories. Some being stripped down to all the essential components, while others feature a more spherical melodic approach to counteract the rougher side of this album with a bunch of relaxed moods.
