Wendland, Arno

Arno Wendland was born in Brilon-Wald in the mountainous Sauerland region of Germany. He learned to play the piano at an early age. Although he would one day become proficient on the saxophone, clarinet and flute, none of these would supplant the piano as his first instrument. Later he acquired a classical musical education including the systematic study of composition and harmony.

Arno Wendland's affinity for the wind instruments was his admission ticket to an even broader spectrum of musical experience. The saxophone led him into the world of jazz, which he explored during the extensive concert tours he made through Germany and other countries as the youngest member of a big band.

At this early date, his musical trajectory already crossed that of Martin Buntrock, who at that time played the bass guitar in the big band. The two young musicians were soon working together in TERRA MOSS, a jazz-rock formation which proved to be a valuable stepping stone for more than a few musical careers.

In the years that followed, Arno Wendland initiated several rock band projects, toured extensively with a show band, accompanied well known vocal artists and made numerous appearances on radio and TV.

Since 1986 he has been working in his own studio, together with Martin Buntrock, composing and arranging advertising, film and relaxation music.

In 1990 the two musicians joined forces with Klaus Buntrock, formerly a solo guitarist in TERRA MOSS, to found TERRA, an electronic rock band which now enjoys a solid international reputation. With the founding of TERRA, the musical trio of Arno Wendland, Martin Buntrock and Klaus Buntrock was playing together again after 20 years.
